GE 26 - set in motion

i’m beyond proud to have marched my rookie season with the corps that i grew up with. thank you to golden empire for reigniting my burning passion for this activity, for pushing me beyond all of my preexisting limits. i am far stronger than i was 2 months ago. the first step of a journey i hope to continue far into the future is over, and i can’t wait for the rest.

until next summer 🤍

Golden Empire 2026
The concept of the dedication of oneself to something, completely. Making yourself vulnerable to the task at hand. Giving yourself to whatever it is you’re doing. An object in motion tends to stay in motion unless acted on by an outside force. Keep moving.
My philosophy going into the season was just that, April 25th, 2026 I promised myself that I would keep those values. I wouldn’t falter, playing the most physically demanding battery instrument, I wouldn’t break. And I would push myself to my limits every single day, I would become the most refined version of myself I could be within the 2026 DCI season. I treated every single rehearsal as if I was still striving to earn my contract. I’ve fallen in love with the culture here at GE, solely because of this idea that we are the hardest working drum corps. We are limited by facilities to rehearse exponentially less than other open class corps, everything is against us, and yet we still will gladly persevere. Us as humans, it is perennial that we push ourselves. We are much too valuable and full of potential to cheat ourselves of becoming great, so give in. Break yourself down while doing it, but strive for excellence. It is impossible to fail.
To the cymbals:
I love you all with all of my heart. Thank you for being my family, for struggling with me, for pushing me to become my best possible self. I’ve always been someone to hate mediocrity, and you all are nothing close to that. In this line I have felt safe, appreciated, loved. I believe that our line worked like a clock, a well oiled machine. We all needed each other to function correctly, we completed each other as a cymbal line. I genuinely couldn’t have been happier with us 4. I love you.
To the staff:
Thank you for pushing me to become who I am. Thank you for being supportive, and thank you for breaking me down. An immovable object versus an unstoppable force, I pushed through such rigorous training in the pursuit of excellence. I don’t plan to stop here. I have endless accolades for this summer. In all, thank you for allowing me to be a part of something so impactful. Thank you, from the bottom of my sore, broken, fire filled heart.
