A meaningful day of giving back with my son, Ray Jr., at the Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles in the Palisades. ❤️🏠

We were especially touched to spend time with Layla Hawkins, wife of the late Tommy Hawkins, former LA Lakers player and broadcaster. Their Malibu home was lost in the fires, along with so many irreplaceable memories and pieces of Tommy’s memorabilia. Layla graciously invited us back to visit once her home is rebuilt, and I look forward to that day.

I left feeling an incredible sense of community and gratitude. It felt good to roll up our sleeves, lend a hand, and pour back into a community that means so much to so many of us.

Building with Habitat for Humanity to help Palisades families rebuild. 🏡🔨
Since the fire, I’ve seen what underinsurance and permitting delays have done to this community. But seeing so many people come together to build homes for families in need who lost everything felt hopeful. These homes will be up in a few months and families can finally come home!

Special shoutout to site supervisor Moises for working with our ELAC NOMAS squad and creating an environment filled with laughter from the start. We were able to meet with project manager David, who offered to show us blueprints and introduce us to the in-house architects during future visits. Looking forward to our next build day!

Members of the Los Angeles Stake of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter‑day Saints were honored to join Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles for this week’s Community Build in Palisades & Malibu, supporting families still recovering from the 2025 wildfires.

Our volunteers stepped in wherever help was needed —
✅ Welcoming neighbors at the check‑in booth
✅ Building wall frames side‑by‑side with community partners
✅ Connecting with leaders from fellow faith‑based sponsor organizations
✅ Helping restore a local park impacted by the fires

Moments like these show what’s possible when faith communities, local leaders, and volunteers come together with a shared purpose: helping our neighbors rebuild and recover.

🩵 Thank you, Habitat LA, for the chance to serve. And thank you to every volunteer who showed up with heart, hands, and hope.
