Every time you cook in a non-stick pan, boil water in a plastic kettle, or store food in plastic tupperware, you’re exposing yourself to some microplastics. Basically whenever something hot or cold interacts with something plastic it releases microplastics, and a lot of them get into our foods as we normally use hot or cold to prepare them. And the research on microplastics in human tissue is not reassuring. They’ve been found in blood, lungs, and even the placenta. The less of them entering your food chain, the better.

Here’s what I’ve swapped to.

👉Stainless steel saucepans with glass lids. Mine are from @salteruk

👉Stainless steel skillet. Again from Salter x @jamieoliver

👉Stainless steel kettle. Mine is from @hadenuk

👉Stainless steel tupperware for meal prep. Mine are from @moonmoon_reusables

👉Stainless steel water bottle. Mine is from @aarke

👉And as a bonus, a glass air fryer - because even that matters when you’re cooking at high heat. Mine is from @ninjakitchenuk @ninjakitchen

None of these are expensive swaps. All of them are worth it. Your kitchen should be the place that keeps you healthy, not the place that quietly works against you.

Upgrade your kitchen. Reduce your microplastic. Simple. 🙌

Can I admit something? I’ve never even tried the original dubai chocolate bar! But the moment I tasted that pistachio filling and heard the crunch…

Now I get it.

I know I’m very late to the Dubai chocolate party… but surely turning it into a Lamella cake makes up for it? 😂

My worry is putting that lovely crunchy filling between moist chocolate cake layers. What if I goes chewy? I would be so annoyed!

So I added ganache on both sides of the filling and hoped for the best.

Do we think my little barrier worked? 👀

Find out in Part 2—where the pistachio buttercream also decides to test my patience. 😅

Have you tried Dubai chocolate, or am I not the only one late to the party?

It will just be a quick bake before nursery pick-up… What could possibly go wrong? Am I delusional to think I’ll be finished on time? 😅

A cosy cottage kitchen in autumn is

Bubbling soup
Home made bakes
A steaming kettle
Flickering candles
Apple pie
Frothy coffees

Cosy warming vibes 🍁✨️❤️
