The annual ‘patch moment 🎃

Dende, 7/21/2017-9/19/2026 🤍

To my best friend,
Thank you for everything. It truly feels like no time has passed since I adopted you from Tulsa animal welfare out of “Woofstock”. One of the best decisions I’ve ever made.

You’ve done everything with me since then. We survived and left my abuser, moved 2000 miles away across the country, so you could see and live in my home state with me. Plus, two more in-state moves. You saw me start my career in vetmed, and change careers to cat grooming. You saw me enter and grow in my 20’s. You saw me fall in love, you gained a dad, and you were here when we married. You’ve gained so many friends, and two sisters and three brothers.

You’ve seen every part of me, and have been there every step of the way, just as I’ve done the same for you. Even though I thought we’d see more milestones from each other, I’m grateful you got to live what life you had before cancer took it. I’m glad I was the one who got to love you, and call you your best friend and mom.
I’m so grateful for everyone who ever got to know you and love you. You were such a well known and loved guy, and I hope you knew how many people you affected, from Oklahoma to Washington.
You deserved so much more than 9 years, especially for how good of a boy you were, but the 9 years that we got together will impact me for the rest of my life.

Your love for me was so honest, pure, and unending. I honestly don’t know if I’d be here without you, and I don’t know what to do now that you’re gone. You dedicated your whole life to me, and I will always have love for you. Through time, until we meet again, however that gets to be. But we *will* meet again, and I’ll be holding my breath until we do.

Goodbye sweetie,
Tootie,
Bump,
Frog man,
Booty,
Foie gras,
The only man made for me,
Dende 💚

As hard as this last year was, some of the most important moments and memories of my life happened, and for that, I’m grateful.

I drew the holiday card we’ll be sending out this year with gifts! I’ve always wanted to take photos with my husband for a holiday card, but I’ve never had the idea to draw it!! Even better imo (:
