The AFM season is officially in the books and the results are up 🏁!

Even though it was just 5 rounds, so much happened! I’m grateful to end the season with multiple novice championships:

1st in Afemme lightweight
1st in Formula 5
3rd in 350 supersport
3rd in 350 superbike

It truly takes a village, and none of this would have been possible without the people who showed up for me all season. This post is for you. 🫶

@volantvivere thank you again for covering my tires for one of the rounds and providing me with quality track time to practice! It was invaluable!

@vnmsport I couldn’t have raced in >100 degrees if it wasn’t for your amazing baselayers!! And to get to do it in my style was just an amazing bonus 😎

@ct_racing I didn’t have to worry about my tires throughout the whole season! Chris provided consistent support and the Pirelli tires never disappointed!

@kytamericas I felt protected all season, even when I crashed after getting taken out! Thank you for helping me safe and in style ☺️

@darkwing_820 thank you for wearing so many hats! Husband, crew chief, mechanic, suspension guy, cheerleader, cook, dog sitter, and often driver, you did it all!! Thank you for believing in me even when I didn’t and for being there for me through it all ❤️ thanks to you, I never had to worry about my bike and was able to truly focus on the racing part. I couldn’t have done this without you and those championships are not just mine, they’re ours because we earned them together as a team 🫶

Well there’s my last day with a yellow number plate. 5 weekends out of 52 doesn’t sound like a lot, but it feels like my first full @afmracing season required a solid majority of my energy this year… physically, mentally, and probably financially.

I’ve been riding motorcycles basically since I could walk, but never with the kind of focus and precision that I did this year. I’m so grateful to my family and all my track friends for giving me the support I needed to commit myself to this.

Thank you especially to my wife @dmarisako for all the work you’ve put in keeping our life afloat while I’m at the track or in the garage, and for never asking me to stop when things got kind of scary.

Thank you to my dad @motorcycledaily for teaching me to ride 33 years ago and every day since.

And thank you to my team for helping me fix my shit, get faster, and not lose my mind between races:

AFM Round 5 at Thunderhill East

This was a long weekend (started riding the Thursday with @volantvivere then went until Sunday), it was definitely challenging but I’m so glad that I did it! Probably some of the best racing I have done so far!

Spoiler alert, I may have secured 1st place in two championships and third in two other championships! I will make a separate post when it is official. I will also make a separate post to thank everyone that supported me through this season because it really does takes a village 😊

Results:
Sat 350 SBK: 4th out of 7
Sat F5: 5th out of 7
Sat 350 SS: 4th out of 8
Sun Afemme: 🥇 4th out of 5
Sun 350 SBK:🥉out of 5
Sun F5: 4th out of 5

I started the week really off pace and couldn’t get to feeling comfortable, I even got my worst qualifying time of the whole season 😅 luckily, some friendly battles with @hahahavy and Drew throughout the weekend really helped me get out of my head!

Saturday was challenging, a close friend got taken out and severely injured during one of our races, leading to a helicopter transport to the nearest hospital while we did our race restart which was a true test of focus and compartmentalizing 😅. Somehow I was still able to race and got one of my best finish of my racing thus far with a 4th place out of 8 racers (I don’t think I’ve ever beat that many people before!)

Sunday I then had a good idea of where I was in the championships and was feeling super worn down, I strongly debated skipping out some of the races and ending the season. Thankfully, after a nice pep talk from @jonathan_merrill_04 I decided to still do my races and ended up getting a 3rd place as well as a new PB of 2:12.9 😊 I’m proud to now be able to say that I fought until the end!

a few weeks ago @ketamlive played its annual @hotelutah set and pushed its tonal experiments to another plane. what i love about @ketamlive is the mixture of fixed song structure and areas for improvisation that let us play around uncomfortably while being able to know where our feet stand. it’s very similar when i’m doing my daily swim: i know what i’m aiming for in terms of time and technique, but how i get there - the psychology, philosophy and daily tactics that get addressed - are always in the moment. and always influenced by the grind. which changes the product and makes it even more unique.
