Fresh out of the kiln ✨🏺

A look at all the amazing vases we unloaded this week at Pottery Lab! Each one is a beautiful reflection of our artisan members’ creativity, skill, and unique style.

And those glazes… 😍 They bring so much character, depth, and personality to every piece.

We’re so lucky to have such talented makers in our studio! 🤍

🖼️OCAD University Artist Showcase and @partial.gallery present 2026 featured artist Hala Alsalman!

⭐Hala is an interdisciplinary artist with a strong background in journalism, which informs her research-creation practice. Through ceramics, video and collage, her work investigates political power, gender relations and history-making. She graduated with an SSHRC-funded MFA from OCAD University in 2024 with a thesis that explores Iraq's future through dreaming and Mesopotamian ontology. @halalsalman

April was filled with full circles
11 months since I pulled purples
First class Raps, class was a wrap
I made a decision last night I won’t die for it
Just to show the city you don’t have to lie for it
Family and friends and books to read
Between the lines you shook indeed
My enemies no friend to me no end to peace or pretend to be a kin to me you’ll sin and see
I am who you wish you finna be
Too realistic to be the fakest
Birthday season to where the cake is
I wanna take it as far as I can take it.

Here are a few images of ʟ'ᴀɪʀ ᴇꜱᴛ ʟᴏᴜʀᴅ, now on view at @artwindsoressex !

This group exhibition curated by Cassandra Lesage Fongué approaches the storm not as a distant natural phenomenon, but as an immersive system — slow, certain, already at work. L’air est lourd invites us to consider the storm as a potent metaphor for the transformations that envelop us.

I'm so pleased to see my works find a home alongside those of such thoughtful artists – Hala Alsalman, Katherine Takpannie and Lisa Hirmer.
Effusive thanks to the wonderful team at Art Windsor-Essex and to BRAVO for this initiative, and to those who made it to the opening ! The exhibition continues until June 28, 2026.

EARTH BODY THREAD
March 27th - May 5th

Hala Alsalman @halalsalman
Omar Tarek zayed @omar.t.zayed
Spencer Ginn @spencerginn

Art direction: Zeina Nahas @_______fragments

This exhibition gathers the work of Hala Alsalman, Omar Tarek Zayed, and Spencer Ginn around forms that feel older than any single history: vessels, fragments of bodies, patterned cloth, repeated marks. These recurring images gesture toward the sublime,
where the familiar slips into something vaster and harder to name. Here, clay, textile, and form do not simply cite Mesopotamian, North African, or Greco-Roman sources; they also blur timelines and mingle as ritual objects put together from an otherworldly archeological dig.

Alsalman’s clay forms, Zayed’s hand-dyed textiles, and Ginn’s ceramic vessels each approach matter as a carrier of memory and belief, but also as an active, almost sentient presence in the room. Taken together, the works suggest that what we call “the past” is
not fixed behind us; it moves through symbols, gestures, and materials that return again and again,
pressing against the limits of what can be contained or understood. The gallery becomes less an archive
than a quiet sanctuary, where viewers can encounter these works not as spectacle, but as a slow, inward recognition—a sense that these archetypal forms also inhabit their own inner worlds.
