Mérida, you have my heart 🤍🇲🇽

MERIDA 2026:

Three summers, three weeks, and a place that has become such a special part of my life.

From 3am mornings spent pounding on doors to wake people up, building a roof in 100+ degree heat, swimming in the cenotes, and becoming a family with our team of 37, this trip was one I’ll never forget.

Going into this trip, I wasn’t 100% sure what to expect. We were staying at a new hotel and going to a new church, so I was nervous about how different everything might feel. But God met me in that uncertainty and reminded me that even when things look different, He is still working in the same ways. He taught me to slow down, rest, and stop feeling like I always have to be doing something to make my time meaningful. Some of the best memories came from simply sitting together, talking, laughing, and being present. I came to serve, but I left feeling like I received so much more than I could ever give.

For the past three summers, I’ve had the privilege of spending my summers in Mérida. Even though my time there has only added up to three weeks, the impact it has had on me feels so much bigger. A little piece of my heart will always be in Mérida, not because of what I was able to do, but because of the people who welcomed me, the lessons God taught me, and the memories I was blessed to make. I’m so grateful God allowed me to be a small part of something so much bigger than myself.

As a senior, I’m no longer eligible to go through Browns Bridge InsideOut. As hard as it is to say goodbye to this chapter, I’m so thankful I get to pass the torch to the students who come after me and watch God work through them. I hope one day I’ll get to return to Mérida and see how much the people, church, and community have grown.

Until next time, Mérida. 🤍🇲🇽

8.2.26 the day I made the best decision of my life! When I was growing up church wasn’t really a constant in my life and as I got older, I began wanting to know more about God and his love. I went through deep anxiety and felt so alone for so long but things started to change when my friends Nora and Caitlin invited me to Browns Bridge InsideOut. I was nervous to go, but I went anyway and I felt completely like I was where I was meant to be. At daytona of this year I felt the message about peace speak to me more than ever because my whole life I had never felt true peace, I was always worrying about what other people thought or about the things I couldn’t control. That night I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior and realized that he was the love and peace I had been searching for and I truly felt made new! 🤍
