FINWISE 2.0: ARZIKI and what an unforgettable experience it was! 🚀

From ideas to impact, FINWISE 2.0: ARZIKI exceeded expectations in every way. With over 600 registered attendees, the event brought together students, innovators, industry leaders, and policymakers in one powerful space of learning, inclusion, and opportunity.

One of the major highlights was our Business Pitching Competition, featuring 20 outstanding startup teams, where ARZIKI Books emerged as the overall winner after an intense and inspiring session of ideas, execution, and innovation.

We were also proud to advance inclusive learning, welcoming over 20 audio-impaired participants, supported by professional interpreters,because access to knowledge should never be a barrier.

The event was further enriched by a keynote address from the Director-General of the Kano State Investment Promotion Agency (KANINVEST), alongside insightful contributions from distinguished guests including:

• Assoc. Prof. Shukurat M. Bello

I read The Defining Decade by Dr. Meg Jay, and one lesson I always return to is this: Your twenties may feel like the most confusing decade of your life,
but they are also your biggest opportunity to discover who you are becoming.

I remember one of my bosses once said to me,
“Juliet, this is your opportunity to explore. Make mistakes. Put yourself out there. This is the time you either get it right, or at least try, and even if you miss it, you learn.”

Sometimes I wish someone told me this when I was 10… or even 15.
But here I am, in my twenties, telling myself, and everyone in theirs what I wish I learned earlier.

And honestly, whether you’re in your early, mid, or late twenties or even in your thirties, these lessons still apply.

The best time to start was yesterday. But the second-best time to start again… is right now.

Anyways now that we are trying to create a collection of books to read in 2026, please recommend a book every young person should read that will make twenties worth it.

For two days, Kano stood still for girls’ education.

Earlier this year we organized our first big event, the WAVES Project Showcase, little did we know that it was preparing us for what we pulled off this past Friday and Saturday! The Kano Girls Education Summit

We brought together some of the biggest decision-makers in Kano State, in fact, in Northern Nigeria, the Deputy Governor, the Commissioner for Education, The Minister state for education, Special Advisers, SUBEB, SBMC, CSOs, and stakeholders from across different LGAs. And we didn’t just have them in the room, we saw real commitment.

The BAGE Project started as a small idea in our small office at Kabuga, the first project I ever wrote a communications plan for. I remember running from one article to another, watching endless YouTube videos, trying to figure out how to draft a plan for something this big. It went through so many drafts and changes, but seeing what it has become today, I’m just grateful.

BAGE Project, among all the projects we’ve done, will always be special to me , because it’s about girls’ education. Education gave me a fair fighting chance. I often wonder where I’d be if I wasn’t educated or hadn’t met people who were. And that’s why I want every girl, no matter where she comes from, to have access to quality education.

It’s been an absolute privilege to serve as the Communications Lead for the BAGE Project supported by the @malalafund , and by extension, the Kano Girls’ Education Summit.

To my bosses (@sani_scholar , @ummu_mubeena ) and colleagues at @bridgeconnectng we’ve just redefined what real and sustainable advocacy looks like. We’ve shown that teamwork truly beats isolated effort.

Here’s to us, to more wins, more impact, and more milestones for girls’ education.
