I’ve been at a loss for how to sum up these last three years with Moulin Rouge. This experience has meant more to me than I could ever put into words.

I performed 11 different tracks across 2 productions and was fortunate enough to make my Broadway debut in this incredible show.

Starting as a vacation swing was hard. It’s difficult keeping your body and mind in shape when you’re not physically in the theater, and it can mess with your head not knowing when — or if — you’ll be back with a production. If you are or have ever been a vacation swing, I see you. You are worthy and a part of the production, whether you have upcoming dates or not.

Thank you to all the incredible people who kept this show running all these years, especially @nancyreneebraun @nataliecaruncho and @camdeng. Thank you for trusting me to bring the story to life. @sonyatayeh it was an honor to do your movement every night.

Here’s to the future. I’m so excited to see what’s next. 🫶🏼

Finally, my Moulin Rouge Reflection & Recap✨

I have been sweating bullets over this post for the past week😂

I have been doing everything, except journaling... so please enjoy me processing 2 years of memories, moments, corsets, and everything in between.

“Why is Brooke here? She doesn’t even know how to sing.”

I heard this during my first musical theatre intensive in 2023.

Ouch.

Words hurt.

One sentence they probably don’t even remember saying…
became something I spent my entire Moulin Rouge experience trying to break free from.

I booked the show the moment I decided, in the Ripley Grier bathroom, that I was going to learn how to belt “Creole Lady Marmalade” with Liz Gray over FaceTime and a loud hand dryer to cover my sound, with “NO SINGING/PRACTICING” written on the wall.

Sorry (not sorry?) Ripley Grier.

Moulin Rouge became my master class and my spiritual sanctuary.

Yes, I was gichie gichie-ing and glorifying God at the same time in fishnets and corsets.

Running from church. Dancing on the subway with drummers. Making it to my Sunday Zoom Dunham class from my dressing room. Rushing to throw makeup on. Jumping into a split at the top of the show. (Whew chile… I definitely won’t miss that one.)

Outside of the theater, I took voice lessons every week. Inside of the theater, I asked Frank Viveros questions every day. I listened. I studied. I watched. I tried again.

You can learn a lot from actively listening.

You can learn a lot from presently watching.

And somewhere along the way, I stopped trying to fit into the mold of what I thought was “musical theater” and started to create my own definition that aligned with my artistic journey.

“Stage Sista” was born after a Moulin Rouge performance on November 11th, 2024, directly after prayer, in my five-person Brooklyn apartment. Any OG followers remember that lol?

I celebrated my grandmother’s life and celebrated three years in New York City on the same day.

I found community on and off stage — from meeting Eli on the airplane, to the security, to merchandise, to dressers, to crew,

How do you even begin to talk about a show that has held your hand through the last 4 ½ years of your life? Moulin Rouge has given me so much, and the gifts will keep on coming in ways I could never predict. I have no doubt of it at all.

Moulin Rouge taught me that I could be a swing. Not only could I do it, but I’m good at it. Thank you, Moulin Rouge, for the opportunity to stretch and grow.

Moulin Rouge gave me my Broadway debut on February 13th, 2025. Something I’ve been working towards since I moved to New York on September 1st, 2008. Thank you, Moulin Rouge, for making my biggest dream (to date) come true.

Moulin Rouge gave me the best people that I could ever ask for. Thank you, Moulin Rouge. My life is better than I could have ever imagined, and it’s because of the people that are in it.

My gratitude and my love go out to everyone on the creative team who believed in me and gave me this change to strut my stuff on the street. Thank you, @alextimbers, @sonyatayeh, and @justinlevine. I’m forever grateful. Thank you to the associates and dance captains who supported me through two companies and 13 tracks. This weekend was truly a rollercoaster, the highest of highs, lowest of lows.

I still can't fully process that it's over. I started bawling before the pre-show even ended. The energy in the room was palpable with friends, family, past cast members cheering and screaming for every moment and every cast member.

All in all, a beautiful show, an iconic run, and I'm genuinely so happy I got to see this show 100 times.

Thank you for everything. I'll love you until the end of time.

The adrenalin crush is hitting hard. 😢 photo dump

Closing out @moulinrougebway was beyond anything I have ever experienced. The energy was electric! I thought I could keep my nerves at bay and handle it. In fact as we were prepping behind the Austrian curtain I said to myself: “Aah, you’re not even nervous. You got this.” But the second I turned around and saw all current and previous cast members in the front rows of the orchestra and the balcony, I lost my cool pretty quickly. It was so hard to stay in character cause all I wanted to do was smile from ear to ear and say THANK YOU!!! YOU MADE THIS ❤️❤️❤️❤️

It has literally felt impossible to choose what to post here and what to even say. As I’ve been scrolling through my albums I can’t help but cry the happiest tears as memories over the past 5 years flood my mind.

I don’t think I could personally dream up a more fulfilling show and I will never take that for granted. It is not lost on me how special this is and has always been. I’ve never been more proud to share a stage with the most talented unicorns in the biz. Every single department kept this beautiful beast afloat. We are forever family. Congratulations to EVERY single human that has touched @moulinrougebway . We. Did. That. 👏🏼

This really is what dreams are made of ❤️ Forever grateful 🥹

I guess it’s my turn I fear! truly there’s not enough words to summarize all that Moulin Rouge has been to me. I overall just feel an immense sense of gratitude, and am so thankful to EVERYONE that has been apart of my journey. I’m so grateful to have been able to embody Heel 5 and Heel 6 full time, and cover 2 Lady Ms in my time in @moulinrougebway !
I often reflect on the 22 year old I was when I first joined the show. I had SO much to learn and so many things to overcome inwardly. I was so nervous. But as I dove in, the lessons of the amazing people and creatives began to stick, and the challenge of doing new things made MASSIVE shifts in me as a performer, and exponentially grew my belief in myself.
Thank you to all cast past and present. Thank you to the FANS for always being so supportive and SEEING US🥹 thank you to the crew, the creatives, producers, FOH, security, etc! This show was nothing without EVERYONE who poured so much into it.
Thank you to the amazing creative teams of past and present that truly SAW me. I had never sang in a musical before Moulin Rouge!, and the GROWTH that I had in my voice, my confidence, my capacity as a dancer, singer, and actor, my relationship with myself, etc is something I am so fortunate to have experienced, and Rouge was the catalyst of that for me. THANK YOU! @alextimbers @sonyatayeh @mattyd0804 @nancyreneebraun and soooo many more!
This dump is so incomplete and doesn’t come close to encompassing all of my experience, and surely couldn’t fit all of the people and things that made this experience what it has been for me. I love my Moulin Rouge family so much, and I hope you ALL know and felt that!!! I will think of our dressing room chats (and sings), inside jokes, SNOBs, games, backstage bits, the support and love and joy of this building forever ❤️‍🔥 HAPPY CLOSING TO US 🥹

What really has made my experience what it is though, is the people! This cast has made me laugh until I’ve CRIED, have literally and figuratively lifted me up, and has some of the BEST dancers, singers, and overall performers on Broadway. I am so grateful to have been surrounded by so much joy, wisdom, kindness, silliness, grit, talent, realn
