Table Manners, curated by Georgia Smedley of Object Massive, asks why cutlery design has stayed largely unchanged and what results emerge when we rethink its conventions.

Eleven contemporary designers and artists were asked to craft one-off cutlery sets distilled through their own practices and creative ethos.

The exhibition presents a provocation to refuse the settled categories of what design is for and who it serves.

Glass Object of the Day

Sloopy Bottles
Blown glass

Slender necks curve away from teardrop-shaped bodies, ending in flared mouths that tilt in different directions. Their looping lines suggest stems turning towards the light, lending each bottle an individual gesture.

The pronounced shift from rounded body to fine, sinuous neck transforms the familiar proportions of a bottle. Softly diffused surfaces give way to brighter reflections along the rims, bringing definition to these delicate openings. The familiar bottle becomes something almost botanical.

- The Faye, the fairies -

Do you hear them?
Russling in the lichen,
Peaking through the mossy braes,
Whispering in the shadows of the glen?

There is a presence here with you
Camouflaged within the flora.
Footsteps hidden by the singing burn

You best step mindfully…
With care and respect,
As the Faye are always watching…
Watching, to see if you are listening

Exploring the idea of an object that can shift between function, form and artistic expression. Containa Champagne Bucket is exactly that, a piece that is both symbolic and useful.

We had some fun styling this one! captured beautifully by @matthewmcquiggan

CCB was created for @ngvmelbourne MDW exhibition Sense of Occasion by @thomasmaxamstudio in collaboration with @ham_don

Very excited to have this piece shortlisted for an @ausdesignreview IDEA Award in the Object, Furniture & Lighting – Professional category.

Proud to have Containa Champagne Bucket/Vase shortlisted for an @ausdesignreview IDEA Award in the Object, Furniture & Lighting - Professional category.

A new addition to the Containa series, created for @thomasmaxamstudio’s exhibition Sense of Occasion, in collaboration with the incredibly talented @ham_don.

The piece brings together Containa’s familiar language with @ham_don’s beautiful hand-blown glasswork, exploring the idea of an object that can shift between function and form.

Very happy to see this one recognised alongside so many great Australian designers. 🤍

“N((O))W“
kiln formed glass
Jan 2026
~

This was my most recent glass work, just getting around to posting it now. Since January I haven’t made any visual Art, as I felt like I needed a breather after last years Exhibition. It has been One year since @innativecollective ´s show “Fables from Earth and Sky “, I’ve attached a video at the end of these slides for context. It was a massive undertaking and we really all went fully into the creative process together. 8/8. It is amazing what is achieved when you have Vision.

This year i decided to put some energy towards other projects like @bluetung.co and my Alchemical Laboratory Studies. Which has felt great, and slowly my inspiration has returned for the visual art again and I can start to see new works forming within. Stay tuned.

On the anniversary of our art show 8/8 this year I was with my closest friend , in my 7th Vipassana sitting, so quite the opposite of experience, very outwards last year and very inwards this.

Yet the teaching still remains the same.

This glass piece opened my scope to what is possible with glass and how I can use this technique with my other leadlight works..

Love, beauty, wisdom and truth are all here and now.
Natures Splendor and Glory. YHVH « all that was, is , and shall always be ». The overflowing N((O))W

Giving thanks for this breath, for keeping me here. Giving Thanks for Life ☿
