@eatbagelbagel is now OPEN 🥯

@rubydee.and.me and I stopped by for soft opening and this morning for grand opening. I am very invested good bagels so we had to try.

It is stated as a New York style bagel spot that has bagels, breakfast sandwiches, sandwiches, and coffee (not decaf).

Both times we grabbed sandwiches and bagels in the bag with a side of schmears. For the soft opening, they were working out some of the baking kinks, and we tried it. The second day. The toasted version was hard on the bottom, but the untoasted version had a good crust and was softer.

We opted for untoasted sandwiches today based on last week. We really liked the meat ratio and style for the sandwiches. Giving them so much grace because it’s day one there were some inconsistencies with egg and hash brown. But it had a lot of good flavor. They were also incredibly open to feedback and it showed in this week’s bagels.

Our go to will be the bagel in a bag. Un toasted and fresh it comes warm with a good crust and a soft inside. Big fan of the rip and dip method. We really liked the plain, strawberry, and scallion cream cheese. We tried the hot honey bacon and as a spicy girl it was less hot honey and a lot more bacon so it’s made for bacon lovers.

Both @rubydee.and.me agreed this is a spot we would grab bagels from again!

There are many different kinds of delis, and the very popular @rayandmikesdeli in Hamden, covers a lot of the ground. They open for breakfast at 6 am. Whether you’re up early, or haven’t even gone to bed yet, they’ve got a breakfast sandwich for you. Made with fresh eggs, how you like em.

They’ve got classic sandwiches like Reubens, Tuna Melts, Chicken Cutlets, House Turkey. I think Ray and Mike’s is most famous for the cheesesteaks some call CT’s Best. But I’m here to tell you. Hand to Heart. The Chipotle Chicken Philly . . . Is even better. One of my favorite sandwiches of the year.

Whatever sandwich you’re in the mood for, Ray and Mike’s Deli likely has it.

It’s ice cream babe.
(Lobster) Roll with it 🦞🍨

This butter based ice cream roll has been swimming around in my brain for months as part of our CT Iconic Food Collab with @kellysconeconnection

We had to pull-in our favorite part time Mainer chocolatier @donovanfamilyconfections to work her magic with a claw lollipop mold I found (serious lack of molds out there).

As soon as the video dropped, it took off! Gaining attention from lovers (and haters), news outlets, locals, and friends willing to
come from from afar.

We keep calling it the great equalizer between the cold and hot lobster roll debate. Even an opportunity for the shellfish allergic to give a fun roll a try!

So love it or hate it. This icon will be at @kellysconeconnection for the rest of August.
