Many of us know Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley, the writer of Frankenstein (1818); I suspect fewer are familiar with her mother Mary Wollstonecraft, writer of A Vindication of the Rights of Women (1792). And that’s just to start some of our notable, earth shaking, unsung heroes.
When I lived in Cologne (90s, yikes) I remember greeting my roommates one 8Mar morning “Happy International Women’s Day”, and the only one who had any idea of what I was referring was Torsten’s girlfriend, who was recently over from the former East Berlin. A bonding moment no one expected. Let’s all start noticing the amazing women doing amazing things in our lives.
For me, just a start, some are here on IG: in woodwork @1snugthejoiner @chaskart_furniture @hammerandbell @tischlerin.johanna.roeh @emi_shinmura @moveoverbob
In resistance and life women are still the standardbearers:

@salburlz joining a board 8/4 x 14” x 13’! Started with 8/4 and was able to finish at 1 3/4 with less than a 1/16” bow over the entire length! I hear from folks all the time that that sort of thing isn’t possible, but here he is after building on his experience, learning some new techniques and getting rid of some bad ones, emerging as one of the most talented people on a jointer I’ve ever known, and he barely broke a sweat! #stairschool #finewoodworking #jointer #keepingcraftalive

Working with my friends Kate and Dave on their new Air BnB here in Berea 🤩
Yes, this was days ago and yes - I'm still mentally here. Note I didn't even make it in the house with this video- I would be happy just renting the back yard oasis✨

Stay tuned!

Another video in a long line of “nailing stuff to other stuff to cut stuff”. Cutting stock rail fittings can be complicated and dangerous, this method adapted from a FHB article from 2007 makes it oh so easy! #stairs #handrail #sultanofstairs
