How do you sum up almost four years of friendship, creativity, play, and community with a group of people you would go to bat for time and time again?

@queerdancefreakout has been home to me since we were what felt like kids playing in the North Center Square park. When it felt like my world was crumbling, these new friends became pieces of my heart and held it together. It’s where I met Moore and collaborators who I plan on working with forever.

We’ve accomplished so much together. Steppenwolf, Fly Honeys, San Fransisco, QDFU, countless of shows at Elastic Arts and in the dance and theatre community, conflict, rebuilding, and fighting for our autonomy to remain an artist led collective.

As I reflect on these last 4 years and the community we’ve built with each other and our audiences, we did that shit. And I’m so grateful I got to be a part of it. To EVERY MEMBER IN QDF HISTORY, THANK YOU!!!! and a special shoutout to @m.s.pants.davis (which how do we not have a picture together) for your friendship, leadership, generosity, and compassion at all the times I’ve needed it.

This isn’t goodbye, but it is a new chapter for me being a part of QDF and no longer serving as a Dance Captain or Company Lead or even Company Member, but as Alumni and #1 Cheerleader. QDF is entering a new independent era and doing things their own way, and if you wanna be a part of it — audition applications are open now. Do it, it just might change your life.

This is my last week in Chicago before I move and it's been a lot more emotional than I thought it would be. The relationships I've built and the opportunities I've been given over the past 6 years have made this city such a special place for me. I'm going to miss it SO FUCKING MUCH. A woman just took a picture of me while I'm sitting by the lake and crying as I write this, probably because I look so tortured and beautiful
