🥊❤️ “IT WOULD BE LIKE WINNING A WORLD TITLE.” Sometimes the most powerful words come straight from the heart. While visiting the legendary Gleason’s Gym in Brooklyn, we asked Junior “Poison” Jones a simple question… “What would it mean to you to be inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame?” His response said it all… “It would mean the world to me. It would be like winning a world title.” Think about that. A man who has already conquered the world of boxing as a two-division World Champion still has one more dream he’d love to see come true. Junior has already done his fighting. His accomplishments are forever etched in boxing history. Now it’s time for the recognition. 🥊 To the writers and electors with a vote, we respectfully ask that you give Junior “Poison” Jones your consideration for the Class of 2027. WE DIDN’T COME THIS FAR TO NOT GET IN! 🔥 #jonesandbarkleyinthehall

Thank you to @boxingnewsonline for posting the following letter involving our campaign 📢🥊 Put Them on the Ballot — Then Let the Voters Decide For the past several months, boxing writer José Corpas and I have been leading a grassroots campaign asking the International Boxing Hall of Fame to give Junior “Poison” Jones and Iran “The Blade” Barkley something very simple: an opportunity to appear on the ballot. We’re not asking for automatic induction. Jones was a multiple-division world champion who twice defeated Marco Antonio Barrera and also defeated Orlando Canizales — three victories over eventual Hall of Famers. Barkley was a three-division world champion who twice defeated Thomas Hearns and battled Roberto Durán in their unforgettable 1989 Fight of the Year. Their cases have drawn support from throughout the boxing community, including Ray “Boom Boom” Mancini, Gerry Cooney, Christy Martin, Donny Lalonde, Hall of Fame cut-man Joey Eye and many boxing fans. But our campaign has also raised a larger question. Who decides which eligible fighters get onto the IBHOF ballot, what criteria are used, and what avenue exists to present the case of an accomplished fighter who may have been overlooked? We completely understand the argument: What about all the other deserving fighters? My answer is: that’s exactly why greater transparency would benefit the sport. Other major sports Halls of Fame publicly explain significant parts of their nomination and screening processes. Boxing should be able to clearly explain its pathway as well. If there are other fighters whose careers deserve consideration, let their advocates make those cases too. A transparent process doesn’t guarantee anyone induction — or even a place on the ballot. It simply provides a clear avenue for legitimate consideration. Junior Jones and Iran Barkley are the two fighters we are fighting for. Their records deserve to be examined. Their accomplishments deserve to be debated. Put them on the ballot. Then let the voters decide.
