Summer ‘26 - couldn’t have done it without my favorite humans and puppy

Say hello to Handsel Reid! He has been a firefighter with the Pensacola Fire Department for close to 7 years and a lieutenant for 3 years. Additionally, he goes above and beyond as a helmsman on Fireboat 1, certified in Rope Rescue Operations, and has begun the process of becoming a Field Training Officer on A-watch. Handsel is currently assigned to A-watch at Station 4 on Engine 4.

Handsel: “Firefighting caught my interest while I was looking to change careers from being a freelance advertising photographer. I wanted to be doing something that felt meaningful and would challenge me on a daily basis, while also having job security and benefits. Being a Firefighter ticks all of those boxes.

I love many aspects of the job including the time spent with good crews, being a part of special teams (Fireboat, rope rescue etc), the schedule, and just general problem solving on every call we go on.

On my days off, I really enjoy spending time and traveling with my wife, Chandler and our new puppy, Dale! I am also very passionate about my hobbies which are mainly cycling, fly fishing, golf, tennis, and playing guitar.”

R.I.P. Crockett.

One heck of a dog. Named after the legendary hunter Davy Crockett and what a hunter he was.

Crockett was a special dog that got to meet a lot of people in his 16 years. Unfortunately age catches up to all dogs and we had to have a tough day saying goodbye yesterday.

He got to live a few lives…he started out burning his energy chasing the system 2.0 at battle falls, and then once I got into duck hunting he had to adapt his bird doggin skills to become a retriever, and then the past few years, he has mostly been a truck/boat riding dog.

It wasn’t until last night that food left out on the counter was safe in the last 16 years.

It was hard to know how bad I would miss him until he was gone and wow it has hit me like a brick wall.

“The price of a good hunting dog is a broken heart at the end.”

Love you Crockett

Had a great crew with a couple new faces last night 👌🏼 Some peeps are meeting up for a Thursday ride to Fort Pickens @bagelheadsdowntown at 6pm reminder below. The ride is faster paced with 1 meet up before leaving the beach. Just under 64k “40 miles” anyone is welcome and the group is friendly but people will be pushing so it’s a great way to stretch your legs. If you get dropped it’s an out and back so the group will catch you on the way back. So come out and JUST RIDE YOUR BIKE 🤌🏼😎
