What if one of the most valuable parts of being a college athlete is everything you don’t fully recognize until later?

In this week’s episode of Beyond Her Game, Dr. Tayler Onion shares why student-athletes need to trust the process, lean into the support around them, and pay attention to how the experience is shaping who they’re becoming.

Because the game is developing more than your athletic ability.

It’s building relationships, resilience, confidence, leadership, and skills you’ll carry long after your final season.

And sometimes, you don’t realize just how valuable those things are until you’re on the other side.

🎙️ New episode with Dr. Tayler Onion goes live Wednesday.

Follow along and tune in to the full conversation.

Dr. Tayler Onion shares an honest look at what her freshman preseason was really like, and why athletes need spaces where they don’t have to pretend they have everything figured out.

This week’s new episode, Empower Women in Sports, also explores self-advocacy, identity, representation, and finding your place as a woman in sports.

Women’s sports revenue is projected to hit $3 billion in 2026. That’s a 340% jump since 2022. 📈

This week on the STL Bucket List Show, Luke sits down with Dr. Tayler Onion, host of the @hangtimep0d and UMSL Sports Management professor, to talk about the boom happening in women’s sports right now, and the space she’s building for women in it.

Tayler shares her wild path from winning a contest to become the Bloom and Onion mascot at the Outback Bowl, to launching her first podcast during the pandemic, to a doctorate on women’s leadership in sports that led her to rebrand entirely around telling women’s sports stories. She also opens up about Hang Time’s first sold-out event in St. Louis and the membership community launching August 1st.

“There’s a quiet hunch I’ve had since I moved here. There’s an appetite for women’s sports and for community for women in sports.” 🎙️

💬 WORDS OF WISDOM | Volume 001

Every athletic director has lessons they’ve learned through years of leading coaches, serving students, and building championship cultures.

This new series is about capturing those lessons—one conversation at a time.

We’re kicking things off with Jen Brooks, CMAA, Director of Athletics at Ursuline Academy in St. Louis. With 30 years of experience, Jen has influenced countless coaches and student-athletes while becoming a respected voice in athletic leadership.

Because the best advice doesn’t always come from a book.
Sometimes it comes from someone who’s lived it.

👇 What’s the best piece of leadership advice you’ve ever received?
