(1 of 2) “Be the kind of woman who, when your feet hit the floor each morning, the devil says: OH, NO! SHE’S UP.” ~ Joanne Clancy Wednesday, September 9, 2026 Springwater Supper Club Nashville, Tennessee This week at the Springwater, we had twenty two artists being that kind of woman. Very impressive since some of them were men! But if Tom Waits says “there ain’t no devil, it’s just God when he’s drunk”, then whaddya’ know about all this: + Our weird host played a new song and read a poem + John Lomax III returned triumphantly from Texas + Shan The Band made harmonica sound like a canyon + Hank treated us to instrumental guitar magic ✨ + Jon Kyle darn near INVADED with talent and style + Kurt cranked the blues up to 11 on that Blueridge + Marcus gave the house guitar a ride it won’t forget + Ghettobilly ceded time to Tony “F*ckyeah!” HIMBR + Theory of Everything rocked a beautiful new tune + Rob sang about a parking lot twenty dollar bill + Trey turned us on to new music, including his own + Kolt shared a new one about his fiancée! Lovely + Gracie gently, quietly took over the entire stage + Jon Lipshaw livestreamed, with a cajon player? + James Brown Band did a truly fantastic new track + Loose Bolts also continued workshopping a new one + Beaux didn’t have to make his mind up right now + Tommy blew us away with a song about Bob Dylan + Wyatt made his Nashville debut! Huzzah! Huzzah!! + Bill is driving across America with Nanci Griffith + Mitchell did the catchiest song to ever catch on + Sara closed us out with sentimental guitar stories And wowza! Welcome to our record breaking SEVEN newcomers (Shan The Band, Hank Close, Jon Kyle, Marcus Omen, Gracie Jones, Tommy Hellfeather, Wyatt Bailey), welcome back to the returning champions (see Notebook Of Infamy), and see you all next Wednesday. #thespringwater #writersatthewater #keepnashvillegnarly

We had a marvelous time at Protest In Song II last night! It was amazing so hear each songwriter share their perspectives on issues of grievance, societal turmoil, unity, and resilience, through the power of song! 🎸🤘🏻 I want to thank: @seniehuntmusic @hankclose @becooljanele @jayrinmusic @johnavinamusic For all of the stunning performances, and @bug.stpaul For bringing her lovely artwork as an Art Vendor! I especially want to thank everyone who took the time to stop out on a Sunday evening, to support the Nashville Alternative music scene! Looking forward to the next one! Cheers, Brendon K. Post 2: Ok, here’s the next group of songwriters who got up to share their stories and hearts with us last night. We have such a great music community at @theboweryvault in East Nashville and it’s always such a treat and great experience hosting every second Thursday’s open mic there. Last night was no exception. All you songwriter’s attending knocked it out of the park! So many new faces! Thanks for stopping in, sharing your stories, your talents and hearts! And the question to start the night off was, “What makes you smile?” and it was great to hear all the answers! #musicianphotography #acousticmusic #openmicnight #secondthursdays #hosting #singersongwriters #listeningroom #guitarists #keyboardist #originalmusic #eastnash #localbusiness #supportinglocalartists #findingyourself #findingyourfearless #writerscommunity #wearefamily❤️ #femaleempowerment #maleempowerment
