Today, half of our team is sitting on a bus getting ready to sing and play at solo/ensemble festival, but by head isn’t playing this track. My head is playing Valentine by Train and We Will Rock You because at 7am on Saturday morning, we should be finishing getting ready to head over to the real court rooms.

Now, because we’re on this bus or at home, I know this obviously isn’t true. But it truly should have been for this team. The 12th place trophy didn’t feel right, and I don’t know if it ever will.

This team is the best team I have EVER had the pleasure of being apart of. The way we work together is unlike anything I have ever seen. And it hasn’t been just in the five mock trial rounds we worked in. We worked together relentlessly in practice and anytime we were together. This teams bond is so unique, and that is what set us apart from every team we faced.

We didn’t have pre planned objections, special name tags, three coaches, and coordinating outfits. However what we did have was far more heart and far more dedication than anybody else. And, we had the best coach we could have asked for, Melanie. Although we may have spent the entire season thanking her, the thanks will never be enough to show how just appreciative I am. Melanie spend so much time and sheds so many tears for us, and I know we will never be able to repay her for that dedication. And of course there’s Ryan who helped from behind the screen. Another huge thanks to Parker for coming back and pushing us to be greater.

In the end, as a senior, I’ve faced the fact that competing in mock trial is over for me. However, I cannot wait to come back and see what the 5 brilliant juniors we have will do next year. I know you will do great things and I have the highest hope that you will beat just one specific team for us seniors.

I will forever love mock trial, but I will forever love this team just a little more.
