Endured the mud, the cold, and the doubt—finished anyway. In discomfort, we find clarity. What challenge has tested you the most lately?

To the women that inspire me daily (that’s all of you 👀) - thank you for being you.

Each and every one of you have a light so bright inside of you, one that you owe it to yourself to nurture, to grow and to let shine. Whatever growth looks like to you, keep on going, keep on showing up and keep on doing you // happy international women’s day ✨

YOU SHOULD TOTALLY STRAIGHTEN YOUR HAIR YOU’d look so PReTty

What you learn as a black woman is some people will never see you as attractive, and for me, that was a hard pill to swallow.

That may sound harsh but all my life I have been told “straighten your hair, you’ll look so pretty!” - now people don’t mean bad when they say that but honestly do you ever hear someone say to a white lady, “you should get a perm or have it super curl that would look so beautiful” - NO
Because when they are telling me to straighten my hair what they are truly saying is, come on get a bit closer to the Eurocentric beauty standards, that see all your black features as commodities to pick up and use whenever they feel like it.

And it’s just sad they are saying your natural self isn’t perfect just the way it is! And trust me it is!

People seem fascinated with the way you’ll look with straight hair, and honestly, that gets boring, like do I have to have straight hair for you to see my face?

If people can’t see your beauty, then don’t add more makeup, don’t burn your hair off, and please don’t punish yourself! Just walk away, because you deserve the best - and if they can’t see that then f them!
