If It Rains The Earth Gets Wet, 2024 by Hanna Koepfle @hannakoepfle

Plant in a pot, RasperryPi, water, pump, bucket, clock, cables, screen
200 x 200 cm

“The installation consists of an act of watering the roses, which is controlled in real-time from the current status of the Swiss Market Index (SMI). The irrigation system is programmed to water the roses according to the current SMI status, whereby this is converted into millimeters. The higher the SMI is, the more water the roses receive, and vice versa. We might see the Roses Blooming.”

Hanna ist a german artist who lives in Zurich. She studied painting at the Art Academy Stuttgart and completed her master’s degree in Fine Arts at the Zhdk in 2024. Her installations question social and economic structures and create poetic and playful connections between topics such as capitalism and identity. She prefers the hidden and supposedly banal in her works and seeks poetry in the supposedly rational.

ISSUE 1 - Bloom

We're happy to present you our debut issue - Bloom! All featured works are now available on our website, accessible via link in bio. Also In the next weeks, we will present to you each work & artist! We want to thank all the artists (so many!) that submitted a work, for their collaboration and dedication, and the great amount of positive feedback we received during our first open call! 💌 Enjoy! <3

What we have to say about our first issue - Bloom:
“Mixed emotions shape our daily life, we look in the mirror, see ourselves from a different point of view. We grieve our past, we witness our rebirth. We run, and we wait. We wait for our ideas to bloom. Faceless voices and strong personalities. They come together to share their experiences, and intimate stories. Like flowers, we wait and observe for the right moment to bloom. Growing is hard yet rewarding. However, sometimes, we hide, and rarely show up. We collect data, we archive it, to then make it visible to everyone. Moments of struggle morph into visual and written works. To bloom, to give life, and inevitably wait for it to shine, to then let go. A box of sculpted personalities. Imprints of eyeshadow palettes. A hate letter. Fawn patterns, and distressed fresh flowers. Residues of me, of you, of them. A symbol of self reflection. Blooming will never be just about flowers.”
