Happy birthday🎸🕶️🍾🥂🎉🎂to The Sheriff #andymccoy #hanoirocks

Seen here on an Air India flight to Bombay, now called Mumbai, January 1983. Whisky & coke in one hand, a fag in the other😎

In those days hardly any bands played in India, that’s what made it such a special trip

One of our own special sisters has been hospitalized and is currently recovering after falling ill with an undisclosed illness. In time and if she feels the need she can describe her personal situation but for now please send a prayer to Julianna Ruiz-Esparza

Julianna is a tough rock n’ roll sister! and with prayer 🙏 there’s no doubt she’ll make a full recovery!

Thank you 🙏

XOXO A.

Record Randomizer: A.I. Picks

I’m going to ask Microsoft Co-Pilot (A.I.) what the best record by each band is in my vinyl collection and I will listen to that record. I will post Co-Pilot’s reasoning and whether I agree or disagree! If I disagree I will also listen to my favorite record by that band!

Next up is the Andy McCoy!!!

Andy is one of my favorite guitarists ever. The silver lining of Hanoi breaking up was/is how much great music each member has given us over the years either solo or in new bands. Andy has given us some amazing stuff as only Andy could. “Building on Tradition” is my favorite. Confession… I stole my 1st copy of this record on CD at a KISS convention in Chicago in the 90s. SORRY ANDY!!!! No excuses, I was young and couldn’t afford the expensive import CD. I was so excited to find an Andy CD I couldn’t leave without it!!! Hopefully it’s a bit of repayment that I bought this beautiful gatefold copy on vinyl as an import fairly recently! This is an amazing record. The songs are great and the production is flawless. Andy is just in top form on this one!!!

Co-Pilot Reasoning:

The best Andy McCoy solo record is Building on Tradition (1995) — the album most consistently praised by Hanoi Rocks fans and glam‑rock writers as his strongest, most fully realized solo statement.

• Signature Andy songwriting: It’s the album where his melodic, gypsy‑glam guitar style and eccentric songwriting feel the most focused and inspired.
• Cult‑classic status: Among Hanoi Rocks diehards, this is the record most often cited as the moment Andy proved he could stand on his own artistically.
• Best balance of styles: It blends glam, blues, punk, and Andy’s trademark “gypsy rock” without drifting into the more uneven experimentation of his later albums.

Andy is a creative force and he certainly was born again electric on this record!!!

Next up are my fellow Fins….Hanoi Rocks!!

WE AGREE AGAIN!!
My Pick: Two Steps From the Move
Co-Pilot: Two Steps From the Move

Co-Pilot and I are at 4 in a row now!! This was a hard one because I love this band so much. So I had to go back to my KISS question, “What would I play for someone listening to Hanoi for the 1st time?” And it’s “ Two Steps…” It’s such a next level record for them in terms of everything about it. When you listen to their discography in order it feels like a new chapter but also a launching point. Unfortunately we are left to wonder where it might have gone from here.

Co-Pilot Reasoning:

The best Hanoi Rocks record is Two Steps From the Move (1984) — the album most consistently ranked #1 by critics and fans, and widely considered their creative and commercial peak.

—

🎸 Why Two Steps From the Move is their greatest

• Highest-ranked Hanoi Rocks album on Best Ever Albums, appearing in 31 charts and holding the top spot among their releases.
• Produced by Bob Ezrin, giving it a sharper, more powerful sound that pushed the band into global visibility.
• Iconic tracks like Boulevard of Broken Dreams, Don’t You Ever Leave Me, and their high‑octane cover of Up Around the Bend.
• Critical legacy: Frequently described as their definitive glam‑punk statement, blending punk grit with glam-metal swagger.
• Historical importance: It became their final album before Razzle’s death and the band’s breakup, cementing it as their last and greatest chapter.

A great record, from a great band that was just two steps from the move…..

What do you think @hanoicollector

10 years ago this month the #hanoirocks ‘82-‘84 exhibition was winding down at the Turku Logomo creative centre & at Kaapelitehdas (Cable Factory) in Helsinki

This pic shows me & 1 of the band’s legendary managers @sirrichardbishop on the other side of the lens

The opening night in Helsinki was great with all the band turning up
Later, there was a re-union meal with all the band except Andy sadly

Do you have any memories of it?

I remember getting rid of that beard!!!😂

Therewas also a David Bowie exhibition by Gavin Evans
Ticket holders got access to both exhibitions simultaneously, quite a rare occurrence

The making of the ‘Spidey Swindle Skate Series’ One year ago we released this super cool collab with our pals @thunderroadguitars @pocketpistols and @spidey75 Our Thunders Model was screen printed old school style with the classic 1980’s ‘Spidey Swindle’ skateboard art that came with a matching pocket pistols skate deck! This was a super fun and creative project🙌✨🛹 Should we come up with another skateboard series collab with these guys? Whatcha think? #rnrrelics #thunderroadguitars #guitar #pocketpistols #spidey
