POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

One year ago, VESPER opened. Enjoy a smattering of polaroids from our time at the @voxeltheater . This show was a milestone for me as a creator. I stretched myself as an artist and producer and I learned so much. I’m incredibly proud of myself for manifesting the magical, dreamy, poetic world I had in my head. But the most profound gift was the incredible team of collaborators who came together make any of it possible. There simply aren’t the words to express my gratitude and the talent, skill, dedication, and generosity of every person involved. If you had any part in making this show happen or if you came to see it—THANK YOU!!

Do you know the feeling?
Vesper is getting rave reviews and there are only a handful of performances left!
Come see what @theatrebloom called “a theatrical dream like no other!” And what @mdtheatreguide described as “entirely enchanting…”
@dctheaterarts said “you don’t just see this show… you feel it vibrating through the air,” and The Bad Oracle called it “a tremendous success.”

How do we navigate darkness? How do we find meaning? Constellations are beautiful examples. Facts. Figures. Stories. Myths. We make order out of chaos to create both safety and magic. That is the power of the human spirit and that is the wonder of the night. The very nature of Vesper explores our capacity for connection and meaning-making, both in the stories it tells and how it tells them (it’s one of those shows that defies explanation and has to be experienced). Fall into the dream and join us! Link in bio for tickets. Music by @jcharney

Dealing with darkness was essential from the start. From the moment I conceived this show, I was inspired by humanity’s nighttime rituals, rites, and practices as a metaphor for getting through darkness. Personal darkness. Societal darkness. A dear mentor of mine (the inimitable Philip Arnoult, who passed away last year) did incredible work connecting and supporting theatre artists and would often remark on “these dark times.” Yes. We are in some dark times. And as I found myself slipping into despair yesterday I remembered that’s exactly what Vesper tries to grapple with: how do we get through the darkness? With light. It sounds maybe twee or trite. But it’s hard. It’s WORK. So our task is to find light. To nurture it and protect it. For me, the amazing community of collaborators is a light. The act of creation, of connection, of communion is light. What’s your light?

I hope amidst all of the chaos, uncertainty, and darkness, you’ll join us as we search for more light. Link in bio for tix and info. Stay strong and keep shining.

There’s something magical about the night, don’t you think? A certain energy fills the air when darkness falls. It’s a time for rest, reflection, prayers, lullabies, campfires, dance parties, lust, dreams… What’s your first memory of night time? Do you still wish upon the first star you see? How do you feel when you see a full moon shining in the dark of winter? Come experience the power of ensemble theatre as we capture the multi-dimensional essence of nighttime in all its wonder. Fall into the dream of “Vesper” at the Voxel Oct 17 - Nov 2. Link in bio for tix! Music by @jcharney
