Kia Ora koutou, Just thought I’d introduce myself. My names Thomas/Smoove I’m a proud father and whanau member (Riff Raff FOS CP), graffiti artist, digital designer and dedicated youth worker. I DON’T OWN A BRAND but I am a designer creating wearable art. The past 3 years I’ve been learning how to design then pass that knowledge and skills on to our rangatahi through various youth programs thus giving them an opportunity to create their own garments and designs. Now, I’ve been given a huge opportunity to further my knowledge and skills overseas with some big name brands. I’m hoping these opportunities not only help me grow as an artist but that I’m also able to bring all that I learn back home to share with rangatahi. I’ve designed The Smoove Pacific Hood to help get me overseas to those opportunities. The Smoove Pacific hood is my way of honouring all the people that helped me become the man I am today. For once I’m going to give myself some flowers 💐 It fully sank in for me on Monday what I achieved as I drove to work I started crying saying “Wow you really did it.” I’ve carried the weight of the world on my shoulders for so long but when I was out there I was free. It’s amazing what your body can truely do when you put your mind to it. I never in my life thought I would’ve run 100km but now I have. I’m grateful for the healthy body I have to be able to run that race and raise awareness for cancer. Im grateful for the endless love and support I had going in and finishing that 100kms. At the beginning of this month, on social media a post to run 100kms across the month for bowell cancer came up and I said “you know what I’m going to do that in a day.” Every single step I took on Saturday, all I thought of was one foot in-front of the other and these 3 things. That 100kms were for those suffering, have suffered, passed away, beaten it or families that have been affected by cancer, I looked down at my wrist and that pushed me through. That 100kms was for my family, for my mum, my dad, Chanaya, Aaliyah, Keanu, Kez, my friends. They’ve been through it all with me, so 100kms was nothing. But most importantly that was for me. I made myself proud, something I don’t do often. I made the 15 year old version of Neeks proud, when I’ve spent a life time trying to fight that version of me when now it’s time to be one with him. At Kilometer 85, my body tried to say no to me, i barely ate to finish, it tried to make me negative and get mad at those around me and look at an excuse to give up. But there was absolutely noway I was not finishing that 100. My smile was there til the very end even when I just wanted to be left alone, I’m grateful for those there in person and those who’s support I could feel from afar. It’s bigger than me. Set yourself a goal and achieve it. Remember why you did it in the first place. Be grateful for the opportunity. One foot in-front of the other. Thank you. Love Neeks ❤️👨🏽‍🦯
