ACOWAR is finally finished! 🗡️

I started embroidering this cover right before starting my third book, so this hoop was on the back burner for a long time. 😅

I went back and forth with different color palettes but ultimately decided on two shades of pink instead of adding extra colors (like a grey sword). The ACOTAR and ACOMAF hoops I stitched use 1-2 colors (before adding metallic threads), so I wanted to stick with that design. 🧵

I’m excited to jump into ACOFAS! ❄️

I love good book cover art and @happypetsink never disappoints! 😍

This hoop took me exactly 3 weeks to embroider! I used only satin stitch with a hint of straight stitch. ACOTAR and ACOMAF are complete and I’m halfway finished with ACOWAR!

For all the design-obsessed… we isolated the cover designs for the ACOTAR 6 & 7 by Sarah J Maas. The new book covers in the series were designed by Violène Pont and Patch Monnier, who work together as Happypets Ink, tattoo-artist partners based in Lausanne, Switzerland. All design work is done with ink on paper. Violène creates the outlines and Patch fills in the shading and texture.

It makes it easier to see some detail… like the thorns in the flames. Oh hello, spider. What are you doing with that spindle of thread? Stygian spiders are known for their fantastical weaving. The dotwork/stippling is very “tattoo”… but the tradition actually predates tattoos. Engravers used stippling in designs in the 17th & 18th century, as a printmaking technique. 🔥🕷️🕸️✨
