Thank you to everyone for all of the birthday wishes!
This year has been a year of growth (specifically hair growth, haha!), strength, perseverance and doing things I have been wanting to do in my life… play golf and dance hula.
I have strived to let the little things go, be present and stay in the moment, take it all in (the good and the bad), keep moving your body, make time for your family and friends and be grateful for every day we have.

Thank you to all of you in my life that make each and every day so much brighter! I LOVE YOU!!

The great Surfside legend Ricky McNiell has passed early this morning from cancer. One of the last remaining Surfside surf buddies of Sean Collins' who went on the legendary Scorpion Bay trips to test out his invention of surf forecasting eventually becoming Surfline..now helping the world to get good surf. Ricky was a great barrel rider and had incredible tales of deep rides in Scorpion Bay with nobody else out. (first image is Ricky at Scorpion in 1974 photo by Sean Collins riding his Bruce Jones) Ricky told us amazing stories of Surfside days when they would bribe the dredging crews how to create perfect sandbars when they dredged the area with gifts of cases of beer for proper bar job..pitting one dredge crew against the other. Ricky was an early skate hero and surf charger ..He told us his very best surf photo of himself was taken by Rockin' Fig back in the day when Rick Fugnetti lived on the harbor side in Surfside and took a photo of Ricky surfing the "dredged beer case sandbar" so deep looking into the tube and you could only see Ricky's ring on his finger reaching out. Ricky hung out at the Ole/Larry McElhany Surf Design surf shop and sanded boards in the back also helping Bruce Jones in the same location. We honored Ricky with the art on the Surfside 70s poster and shirts and trophy board shaped by Tim Stamps last year. So glad we did this. Ricky meant a lot to the community around him and defined the era he lived and ruled in. Thanks for the life and times Ricky! In the early 1970s Shawn Stussy was shaping for Russell Surfboards in the Huntington Beach factory on 17th St on the west side between Acacia and Palm St… It’s fun to find boards that were maybe shaped by Stussy and usually you can tell by his lettering .. The SS in the Russell is emphasized here in his signature lettering style and I’m just guessing that this is a Shawn Stussy beauty .. Maybe shaped around 1974-75 @shawnstussy @timponehawaii @russell_surfboards @hardcorehawaii @benny_big @jeffdoclausch @brett_coats
