🤷‍♂️How is YOUR inner world Coach?

It’s time to build the person behind the coach.

Most coaches/leaders I have encountered and experienced as a player or coach have this one hidden problem:

We don’t struggle with strategy, we struggle with distorted perception.

Here’s what we in sports especially football would rarely admit (it’s a twisted version of how we ought to operate):

Most of our drive didn’t come from our calling, it came from wounds. 🫣

Ambition often begins as a survival strategy.

Where work became medication.

Overwork has become self medicating. (And celebrated)

Success becomes validation.

Peace is a word I have very seldom heard spoken in high performance sports environments I have been in for over 20yrs now.

But when peace is absent, our work becomes a coping mechanism.

Don’t tell me this isn’t you coach, it was me.

We have not been operating from identity, we have been operating from injury.

So, what do you fear?
Abandonment, confrontation, insignificance?

Please stop burning yourself out trying to prove something to somebody they didn’t ask for.

As a coach or leader…can you carry the position without collapsing?

Let’s talk. DM me.
Masks off.

No friends.
No favourites.
Just football.

The Cape Town Derby hits different.

Who is becoming better because you are there?🫂

Success stopped being about me.

Playing taught me to ask:

“How do I perform?”

Coaching forced me to ask:

“Who performs better because I’m here?”

That changed everything.

Leadership is not only what you achieve.

It is what your presence helps develop in other people.

Trust.

Growth.

Accountability.

Confidence.

Achievement becomes incomplete if the lesson dies with you.

Who is becoming better because you are there?

Truth: I wasn’t the player people thought would make it.🫣

Even my own uncle rated one of my teammates more highly than me.

He looked like the prospect.

I was the fast, no-frills goalscorer.

He didn’t become a professional.

I did.

Not to diminish him.

But to make this point:

Recognition is not potential

Polish is not potential.

Visibility is not potential.

Other people do not get to decide what God placed inside you.

Your job is to steward it.

**Who are you overlooking because their potential isn’t obvious yet?**
