AURA started as just a conversation on the couch in the studio. Kicking ideas around, figuring out which direction I wanted to go… until I remembered how much Long Way 2 Go by Cassie always inspired me — one of my favorite 2000s R&B records.

From that moment, producer extraordinaire @hareketbeats and I made it a mission to capture that feeling… but in our own way.

In the beginning, we couldn’t quite find that distinct sound we had in mind, and that part got a little frustrating. We were deep in it, trying different instruments, flipping samples, really searching…

Then one morning, my producer hits me up early — and I mean EARLY. Sends me a voice note like: “Beloved, I’ve got it! After you left the studio yesterday, I dug deeper into those samples and found the befitting one!”

I already knew it was serious… he never hits me up that early 😂

Pulled up to the studio later that day, and lo and behold… we found THE sound.

Fast forward to a couple weeks after locking in the arrangements, we started recording. I actually wrote and recorded each of the two verses separately; about a week apart; just to really sit with the vibe and let it evolve naturally.

After that, we spent even more time fine-tuning everything. I had never worked this long on a song before tbh. But from the very first idea to finally receiving the mastered file, the whole process was mad fun.

We really turned into mad scientists on this one. Tedious at times, but worth every second.

AURA is what happens when inspiration meets patience.
Big S/O to everyone bumpin’ this joint heavy! Feedback has been crazy so far. Salute!

“And I got everything I wanted like I had genies“

God do I love hip hop! I did a couple of great interviews with amazing artists over the past couple of months. There is nothing more inspiring than talking to artists who can rap like their life depends on them (it does), who can craft lyrics out of this world, and who, most importantly, have the craziest stories to tell - stories of struggle, of hopes and dreams, and of never giving up. Of hardship and success, and most of all, the beauty and power of music. And there is no work more fulfilling than the work of a writer, who can tell these stories and write dreams into existence.
Thanks to y‘all for your support and the biggest thanks to these wonderful people for taking your time to tell your story. To many more!
