$The Cassini satellite was the first to enter the orbit of Saturn, where it stayed for thirteen years until it’s intentional destruction in the red-hot upper atmosphere of the ringed giant. Cassini transmitted data on the most Earth-like worlds in our solar system, revealing seasonal complexities, hidden oceans, and bursts of radio waves teased out across magnetic fields. Harley Ives’ ‘Cassini’ uses fractal, rotating light flares and chromatic digital technicolour to place a viewer in a similar frame of discovery. Layering VHS scan textures across the digitally rendered imagery allows Ives to work with aberration as well as design to mesmerising results. ‘Cassini’ is showing as part of Level Two at CHALK HORSE, now extended until August 6th.
