I grew up on the tip of the Hill Country. It’s where I learned to hunt, spent countless days chasing wildlife, and a whole lot more filming hunts in my outdoor career. I played my first full round of golf there, and hundreds more to follow. I’ve fished in its waters for bass and bluegills, and I’ve floated in an intertube in the same spots. I’ve been dragged to antique shops, I’ve been to summer church camps, and I’ve attended more concerts than I can count there. The Hill Country is without a doubt the place that created the passion I have for the outdoors. My story is one of thousands, if not millions, of Texans that grew up there. And just like all of you, watching the same place that brought us such joy bring others so much pain in an instant has broken me. But I know there is a God who loves us who will heal this amazing place. “Because he loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name. He will call on me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him.” -Psalm 91:14-15
