Mystic is a Christian summer camp for girls. But it is so much more than just a place. It is a legacy of unbreakable sisterhood and tradition and faith that spans generations. It is where girls like me return to summer after summer since 1926 to invest in our faith, our friendships, and ourselves.

At Mystic, we live out the camp’s three ideals:
We become better girls and young women for being there.
We let Mystic bring out the best in us.
We grow spiritually.

On Opening Day, we sprint between cabins, greeting our friends and giving huge hugs. We make our beds, unpack our trunks, and are overjoyed to be starting another fun-filled and faith-forming term tucked away behind the green gates in Hunt, Texas.

For the next few weeks, we wake up to Reveille, cheer for our tribes, sing songs, put on silly skits, catch fish (or in my experience, try to), clean our cabins for inspection, dance our hearts out, eat tons of Blue Bell with peanut butter, don our whites, listen to Vespers, compete in tribe games, swim at the waterfront (and squeal when our feet brush a fish), face the flag, and are lullabied to bed each night by the serene sounding of Taps and a heartfelt “Goodnight, Camp Mystic. We love you!” over the speakers.

And when Closing Ceremonies are over and our cheeks are tear-stained and our trunks and duffels are packed up, we hug our best friends tight and pass through the green gates again, knowing that camp will be there for us time and time again, year after year.

Though we cannot fathom why the tragedies of July 4th, 2025 affected Camp Mystic so horrifically, this I hold true: When each of those precious girls met the Lord’s embrace, they were held by the author of love Himself. We cling to Isaiah 43:2a which says “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you.”

Please stay fervent in prayer for Camp Mystic; the families of those who are now with the Father; and the Eastlands: loving, God-fearing, selfless people who I consider dear friends and mentors.

Mystic is a glimpse of Heaven on earth, and Mystic girls are the strongest girls I know.
“For you girls belong to Mystic,
And Mystic belongs to you.”💚
