Mi Cuate (I see you in me)

is a modular multipurpose table/shelf designed by @harpyp @craneo.gatx @surraul_ with fabrications done by @harpyp & @craneo.gatx & GAG! Family helpers

We were inspired by the idea of change and mark making. Process, as one of the staple pillars of GAG!, informed the piece by 1. Creating a piece where family and friends can congregate, sit, eat, drink, in the way GAG! Members meet for bbqs, we created a table where people can gather (and sleep under)
2. The shelf transformation creates a place of safe keeping, a way to collaborate, to connect, to support, the shelves were filled with our marks, our friends belongings, a place to leave a tequila bottle (thank you Austin @hopeyouhaveagoodtime), a place to let your cat roam, and a place to make your own. A sort of altar.
3. The change in the room ignites a level of active participation. A visitor that had seen the table (day 1) and now sees the shelf (day 2), wonders, remembers, and asks about what has changed. This reaction begins what we believe is a staple to the GAG! Experience, we seek to move beyond a passive experience and create active participation amidst artists and viewership.

a Cuate, meaning friend, twin, bestie, homie, makes this piece a part of friendship and connecting, a place where we can we meet and where can we leave parts of ourselves. Throughout the three days of tryst, visitors were invited to write on the piece and leave whatever they want, leaving their mark as a way to remember they belong here just as much as we do, and for a moment, feeling a part of something bigger than an art world or art fair… once you have participated you are GAG!, to be true to yourself and to support others, to be a part of the process and open to possibilities.

NOW IN ARCHIVE:

This Episode we feature Los Angeles-based art collective @gag.co (Gallery Attendants’ Gallery)— a collective of artists seeking to respond to institutionalized art spaces, create disruption as a mirror to systems of power, and encourage active participation. They scrap resources, collaborate, and mobilize all while finding community. Existing as a place to self legitimize and self actualize, GAG! is the response to the longest inside joke. Here, we stay gagging at the results.

Known for their playful, disruptive approach, GAG! creates spaces that blur the line between DIY and fine art while challenging how audiences engage with contemporary culture.

Tune in @dublab as we gain insight into a collective redefining how art is experienced, shared, and reimagined Photo shared by Channels on April 09, 2026 tagging @dublab, @la_kristen_virgen, @the_4th_invader, @lewdacrisp, @rugtimeblues, @kanyewet, @_nia.harris, @surraul_, @theruthis, and @gag.co.
