What a brilliant start to Decorex!

@jules__haines and I were thrilled to launch the Sustainability Space yesterday @decorex_international. Huge thanks to Kate @mad_about_the_house for creating this space for us. Four fascinating conversations exploring waste, toxicity in our homes, natural materials, and the next generation of designers and green skills.

Thanks to @wearerepairs, we learnt that a staggering 22 million pieces of furniture are discarded in the UK every year. That's around 60,000 a day. Insane!

From @delythfd's campaign to reform UK furniture fire safety regulations, to Emma Tweedie from @campaignforwool leading a brilliant discussion on natural materials, and Jeff Hayward from @wildwoodplus Plus exploring green skills and the next generation.

We ended the day with a fascinating conversation alongside @kerrynharpercuss and Helen Gordon from @nested_living on designing healthier homes. If you haven't read Kerryn's book, @sanctuarybydesign, you really must!

Such a fantastic collaborative atmosphere throughout the day. A huge thank you to all our brilliant panellists for sharing their expertise, and to our wonderful sponsors and supporters:

@thegreenroomuk, @coachhouseuk, @edwardbulmerpaint, @lutronbydesign , @mad_about_the_house, @nucleus_av , @gelstarrwindowsltd, @MHB and @chloejonasonco

Back for more today. Come and join us and don't forget to check out Jules' amazing new fabric collection printed on surplus roll ends.

Nasia took part in a fascinating panel discussion this weekend, ‘Why Natural Materials Matter: Building Healthier, Longer-Lasting Interiors’ at @decorex_international facilitated by Emma Tweedie @campaignforwool and joined by Emma Linney-Taylor @harrison_spinks and interiors Editor & journalist @kerrynharpercuss

The use of natural materials is core to our business. Every piece is meticulously handmade in our Cotswolds workshop using carefully selected natural materials and time honoured upholstery techniques. Beneath the fabric, FSC certified solid timber frames and hand tied coil springs are layered with materials such as British wool, coir, horsehair, feather, down, hessian and natural latex to create exceptional comfort and enduring quality.

This talk was part of the brilliant Sustainability Space theatre sponsored by @bable.world and @haines_collection

Last night I attended “the art of good sleep” at The Conran Shop, to celebrate the arrival of Floks into their store. Surround yourself in natural materials, wool is a super material. Where to start? A natural mattress topper! 🐑🐏🥰 #healthiswealth #naturalisthesolution #startwithatopper #formerpresident

一張好的床墊
不是只有「軟」或「硬」的差別

而是當你躺下的那一刻
身體能不能真正被好好承接

這次，讓 @harrison_spinks 親自告訴你
他們的床墊和用料有什麼不同

POV: From the sheep in Yorkshire to the master craftsmen in the factory… Michael’s learning how true luxury sleep gets made! 🐑🧵✨ Well done Michael 👍

We sent our Bed Sales Executive, Michael, to the @harrison_spinks factory to see the craftsmanship firsthand and they handed him a needle and put him straight to work!
As Michael quickly found out, traditional hand side-stitching is a lot harder than it looks. Every stitch takes serious skill, strength, and precision to build the edge-to-edge support Harrison Spinks is famous for.

Now he’s back on the showroom floor, ready to share all his insider knowledge and the timing couldn't be better:
