Just before we got mad into this year’s market season, I had the pleasure of making a premiere night outfit for @harrisongeorges who has been working as Dramaturg on the theatre show The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind. A true story based on William Kamkwamba, from Malawi. 🇲🇼❤️Some of you might have seen the show already or may have watched the film version on Netflix. We had a chance meeting with George, a few years back at one of our markets in Chelmsford and although I had forgot about our conversion then 🙈, he had not. I was reluctant to take on the project, just cause I don’t really make much menswear as you know. Took me a few months to decide and I must say, someone was very patient with me. I got a bit stressed right at the start of the project, as my confidence dipped a bit. Thank God George was very easy to work with and very understanding, all was well and ended well! Yay!🙌🏾

Thank you @harrisongeorges for being an amazing client and now someone who is part of our Afrocentric805 family. It was a pleasure meeting you again, quite a few times now, and meeting your mum was the icing on the cake.❤️

The show ends on the 18th of July, so if you can make it guys, grab your tickets now. We will be off to see it next week. Soho Place, London.👏👏❤️❤️🇲🇼🇲🇼

A few of the many shots I took last Thursday on the Press night of @boyharnessedwindmusical @sohoplace this was a truly special evening. 📸📸

The second picture is of the very man himself WILLIAM KAMKWAMBA who ‘The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind’ is all about. There’s something super special and an actual honour to watch a play with the man who this true story is about is sat right in front of you. Truly a moment to remember.

All I can say is go and see this show you will not be disappointed 🔥🔥🔥👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

In 2019 I read the most remarkable book; the true story of an ordinary Malawian farm boy who does an extraordinary thing, changing his life and the lives of his community forever. It sung from every wonder-filled page. I knew I had to bring this story to the stage. It arrived to me fully formed – I could see it.

Since then William Kamkwamba’s story has taken me on an incredible journey, visiting Malawi and Hollywood (via Zoom at least). A journey that has taken me to William’s home in Wimbe, and brought him to my home in Orsett. It has enabled me to work creatively alongside my oldest schoolfriend, @harrisongeorges , and a composer-lyricist who has been my inspiration and mentor, @timsutton . They shared my vision – they too could see it. Together we received the unbounded backing of @kennywaxproductions and @cnwagu , producers who pledged to make the vision a reality.

Thanks to the imagination of director, Lynette Linton, and a host of gifted and generous actors, Kenny and Chuchu were able to forge a partnership with the brilliant @thersc , and I have been pinching myself black and blue ever since. Today we announce the next phase of the journey for The Boy Who Harnessed The Wind, which will premier at The RSC’s Swan Theatre, Stratford-Upon-Avon, in February 2026.

William’s is a joyously inspiring story of what can happen when you have the tenacity and resolve to bring your vision into being – to make it a reality so that others are able to see it as clearly as you do. It has reached lives all over the world, changing each it touches a little bit for the better. I hope that, from February 2026, it will touch yours – that you will see it.
