„Meine Einrichtungsregeln? Keine Regeln! Kein Entweder - Oder.
Alt oder Neu? Ist nicht die Frage - mein Auge entscheidet.
Inspiration kommt von überall: Bücher, Filme, Kunst, Fotos, alles was berührt. Handwerkskunst, die bleibt und deren Schönheit mit der Zeit wächst. Am Ende zählt nicht der Preis.
Sondern die Persönlichkeit.“

A little design inspiration from an evening at the new Design Within Reach in Birmingham. 🤎

Surrounded by pieces from some of the icons who shaped modern design — Charles Eames, Eero Saarinen, George Nelson, Harry Bertoia, Edward Wormley & Jens Risom — and designs that still feel just as relevant today.

There’s something about great design that never really goes out of style.

Which piece would you bring home? And should I share more design + interiors around Birmingham?

Sébastien Meyer and Arnaud Vaillant, the talented duo behind @coperni, have long chosen their home near le Marais, a little on the edge of this historic Parisian enclave, it used to be towards Arts et Métiers, but have since settled between Place des Vosges and the bustling Place de la Bastille - a perfect balance between calm and lively.

The couple’s bright and quintessentially Parisian apartment has exposed ceiling beams and an array of large windows. Three rooms opened in a row, including a sliding anthracite gray panel, conceals the entrance where a small painting by the Provencal artist Georges Briata is hung, making a gesture a museum staging. “A gift from my father,” says Arnaud, “he collects his works. One of his rare paintings of Paris, the Seine and in the distance the Eiffel Tower. They feel good in this apartment that they wanted temporary and more functional to welcome their one-year-old daughter, Nicole.

“We have a fairly radical taste, quite futuristic,” explains Sébastien. Or for things that make sense to us like this USM storage cabinet. We had a nice collaboration with them for Coperni. All our pop-ups are designed with their furniture. However, we remain quite classic in our tastes,” admits Sébastien. “Le Corbusier, Bertoia, Paulin, Noguchi... It feels good. A timelessness that reassures. We’re not the type to look for specific things. We’re going to the crush. It tells a story, a moment.”
