New work premiering in just a few weeks! Catch this in the Dovetail 3320 Dance Series Festival running over the next two weekends. We'll be sharing this the second weekend --- October 23rd & 24th (Link in bio for tickets) Residue Edging explores the intoxicating space between wanting and having. Tracing what happens when anticipation becomes the destination itself, the wanting more consuming than the having, the fantasy more alive than the thing. Through cycles of restraint and release, and the body's relationship to delayed desire, the piece lives in the in-between: stuck, waiting, buzzing. The dancers trace the arc from fantasy to euphoria to deflation, using humor and physical tension to hold the absurdity of how much of life we spend suspended in wanting. . . Please join us in just over a week for our next Freedom From and Freedom To on August 22nd! Freedom From and Freedom To is an exploration and celebration of artistic circumstance. Movement and sound improvisors from all around Chicago gather in front of a live audience, where they are grouped by chance. Each group performs an improvised set. We fuse diverse artistic backgrounds and practices to create unique and fleeting worlds. There will be a special opening set from Pittsburgh duo Slowdanger. Following we’ll have 4 x 15 minute sets from on-the-spot lottery chosen ensembles. Don’t miss this! Alright folks, mark your calendars for August 22nd!!! @freedom_from_and_freedom_to is back on @elasticarts at 7pm/$15. I am beyond thrilled to have the amazing Haruhi Kobayashi @haruhi_ join us again! Come enjoy some of the best improvising musicians and dancers from Chicago, NYC, Cleveland and DC.🙌🏾. This show will be live and also on Elastic’s twitch channel, for those that can’t join us. **Also on Aug. 22nd, the amazing duo Slowdanger will lead a movement workshop at Bimbom Studios from 10:30am-12:30pm ($15) Freedom From and Freedom To is a cross disciplinary event featuring improvising dancers and musicians. Audience members will select the groups by chance. I’m extremely happy to present 22 performers! Many are FFFT veterans & others are brand new to the family! Pulling at these past threads, she explores the themes of bi-cultural identity, tradition, and existentialism while seeking to liberate sound from preconception.
