FOUNDER SPOTLIGHT | SHAMSIDDIN “FREE SHABAZZ” A founder. An educator. A land steward. An HBCU alum. A community builder. A creative. A Educator.A parent. A peer facilitator. An Epilepsy Warrior An emcee. And the visionary behind Alafia Bean Pies. Shamsiddin “Free Shabazz” is a Lincoln University HBCU alumnus whose work sits at the intersection of education, food, culture, land, wellness, and community. His journey is deeply influenced by Black liberation, the legacy of the Black Panther Party, Yoruba tradition, the Nation of Islam, and Black American culture — carrying forward ideas of self-determination, community care, collective responsibility, and building something meaningful with what we have. Through his work as an educator and land steward, Shamsiddin has continued creating opportunities for young people and communities to reconnect with food, land, knowledge, and one another. Through Alafia Bean Pies, that same vision takes another form: a vegan dessert rooted in culture, wellness, creativity, and connection. And beyond the pies, the vision continues through the Alafia Supper Club — creating intentional experiences where food becomes a doorway into conversation, culture, fellowship, and community. Alafia means peace, wellness, and inner balance. For Shamsiddin, it’s not simply a name — it’s a way of moving. Tonight, we celebrate the founder, educator, land steward, HBCU alum, creative, community builder, and visionary behind the brand. 🖤🌿 Happy Birthday, Shamsiddin! Begin the slideshow ➡️✨❤️ — Somewhere being sexy & out the way📍 Almost committed to 75 Hard. Gave up by dinner. Fell in love with @blankstreet’s strawberry shortcake matcha and have zero regrets 🍓🍵 Got dressed up for a lil date night and said I was gonna behave… then tequila happened. Found my way back to @Sweetgreen (because healing is nonlinear) and finally put my bestie on to the secret menu salad — if you know you know 🥗 Got hype for the @Cecred edge drops… still sold out. Beyoncé, please. Worked on something cool 👀 And had one too many deep convos with peonies on the walk home 🌸 Also: • Talked myself out of buying $800 shoes (the economy thanks me) • Found the cutest little bar in SoHo — 10/10 for the vibes & the lychee martini • Broke the internet in @OldNavy jeans 💁🏽‍♀️ • Got a fortune that said my Monday mindset is elite • Ate good in PLFD & yes I still only want one spoonful of mac & cheese • And somewhere in the middle of all that — I remembered I’m not like other girls… I’m like my dad 😭😂 Basically: it’s giving soft life chaos with a splash of luxury delusion 💅🏽✨ #lifelately #nyccontentcreator #photoDump #midsizestyle #blackgirlfashion #matchagirlies #softlifesummer
