Summer 2026 will be one I never forget. The FIFA World Cup has wrapped up and we are left with amazing memories. I went to 3 of the group stage matches in KC as well as the quarterfinal match between Argentina and Switzerland. I never dreamed I would get to experience a World Cup in person, let alone in my back yard.

Kansas City was on display for the world to see and they did not disappoint. From FanFest to the stadium to the Netherlands parade of 36,000 to midwestern hospitality and ranch, the KC Metro won over so many people over the last month.

For me, two things stood out above all else that happened the last month:
1. The city of Lawrence and Algeria have a special love and bond that will never be broken. Watching the city of Lawrence fall in love with Algeria was truly spectacular.
2. Watching friends with little to no previous soccer experience fall in love with and learn about the beautiful game brought me so many smiles.

The World Cup may be over, but the memories will last forever. Well done, KC. Well done.

I can’t believe it has been ten years since we opened Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar. I may have only been there for three months, but it was my first location after the Wave, and started my growth at Walt Disney World. The location has changed a bit in ten years, but it is still a fun stop at Disney Springs!

Soul of sunshine,
on a cloudy world,
blooming flowers,
in a desert soil,
loves with laughter,
new with old,
what we create,
we will devour,
with fury of life’s willful power.
