188 PERSONAL BEST TIMES. 🔥

What a way to kick off Season 3.

87 lifeguards took to the pool at UWC on 10 October, and across the afternoon, 188 personal best times were recorded.

Already swimming faster than your previous self. Already raising the bar for the season ahead.

From the 200m Obstacles, Rescue Medley and Manikin Tow to the first ever Obstacle Shootout, Pool Competition 1 got Season 3 off to a fast start.

Next up, we head to the beach. 🌊

There’s something pretty cool about going back to where it all began.

The first ever Rescue Sport Series competition was held at Fish Hoek Beach in 2024. Highlights from this video showing just what a vibe it was. And two years later, we’re back to start our season in the Deep South.

🎥A TIGHT RACE. A FASTER CAMERAMAN.

Wilan Basson of @cliftonsurflifesaving and Len Douglas Mac Kay of @kingsbeach_slc were locked together in the Men’s 100m Manikin Tow.

Two of South Africa’s best.

Into to wall.

They hit their manikins together, clipped in and powered towards the finish.

And then the footrace began.

Behind the lens, Reinhardt was already moving.

He had the shot of the two athletes coming in together.

Now he had to get to the other side of the pool.

Fast.

Reinhardt made the dash just in time to capture Wilan touching the wall and taking the win.

There’s some pretty cool history between these two, too.

In 2025, Wilan set a new South African Record for the Men’s 17–18 100m Manikin Tow with Fins.

The previous record holder?

Len Douglas Mac Kay, set in 2022.

We love hosting legends of the sport line this in our series and we can’t wait to see what they have in store for Season 3! 🔥

From a field of 49, three remained. Millimetres separated them as they fought for the final two batons at the end of the flags pit.

In flags, there is rarely much between them.

Sometimes you see the opportunity.
Sometimes you have to make it.

And when it comes, you go.

You had to be there.

The kind that gets told around the braai, on the beach after training, or years later when the team gets back together.

“Remember that one time...”

For Milnerton’s Liam Bottomley and Javin Presence, it was the Men’s Board Rescue at Clifton Western Cape Champs.

One committed team.

One unforgiving shorebreak.

One spectacular wipeout.

The result has long been forgotten.

The story never will be.

Because that’s the thing about Rescue Sport.

Some moments earn medals.

Others earn a place in club folklore.

You had to be there.

🏁Racing in Fish Hoek never disappoints.
And Saturday delivered 🔥 Extra-hard sand. Extra-flat seas. Warm water. Little wind. Perfect conditions for strategy, skill and teamwork.

The Rescue Sport Series came alive in the Deep South, and Fish Hoek once again revealed who’s rescue ready.

Beach Sprints, Surf Swim, Surf Ski, Board, Beach Relay, Taplin and the long-awaited Mixed Double Ski — every race counted.

🏆 Leaderboard points claimed, statements made, momentum earned.

Thanks to all the athletes, officials, volunteers, and spectators for making Fish Hoek another unforgettable stop on the Rescue Sport Series. Stay tuned for full race videos and leaderboard updates.
