Crisp fall morning with this crisp Credor from 1982 💛 I absolutely love the sharp bevels and warm golden textured bezel on this reference, it is such a refined and elegant look on the wrist. So grateful to have gotten this as an engagement present! Currently rocking it on the @hasnobounds Epsom, I think I need a bespoke Saffiano so I can use the OEM Credor buckle with it too 🤓

What else is there to say about the straps from @hasnobounds besides that they are simply perfect? Pictured here is a blue leather strap with an intricate texture. The level of detail, quality, and how sturdy yet compliant this strap is is remarkable. I recently wrote a long-term review of two of their straps, and all those characteristics apply here as well.

@watchhoandco x @seltenwatch - Yum Cha 飲茶

Yum Cha, in the literal sense, means to drink tea. But in Cantonese tradition, it is the act of going to eat Dim Sum. As someone who spent most of their life growing up in Hong Kong, this one is close to my heart.

This is the second collaboration between Hong Kong-based microbrand Selten and @watchhoandco to commemorate the club’s 3rd anniversary.

The first thing that draws your attention is the dial. Its design is directly inspired by the weave of bamboo steamer baskets that have traditionally been used to cook and serve Dim Sum. Culturally, bamboo serves as a symbol of strength and resilience, and the weave pattern symbolises the bonds of family and friendship.

Dials are crafted by Master Qin and his apprentice from Selten’s in-house dial workshop. First, there is hand engraving. Using a tungsten graver, the dial is segmented into around 80 rectangles, which are each engraved with over 40 parallel lines onto a silver base. The varying depth, direction and dimension of the approximately 3,500 engraved lines makes for a very dynamic dial under light.

Next comes the Grand Feu enamel. Highly transparent enamel was sourced from specialists to achieve the delicate balance on display. A minimum of eight layers of enamel are applied, each fired in a kiln at 800°C and cooled before repeating.

Lastly, the dial is hand polished. The curvature of the dial allows the enamel to settle thicker towards the edges, revealing the fumé that gently gradates from a honey-like center to a darker amber at the periphery.

The underlying engraving is still able to vividly shine through due to the choice of enamel, engraving and base. The meticulous and complex crafting process requires around 16.5 hours of focus.

The caseback features a stamped illustration by @onehourwatch depicting a common sight at Yum Cha, with Siu Mai, tea and chopsticks in sets of 3 in a callback to the club’s anniversary. The table stand is hand engraved with the owner’s choice of serial number (though I scrubbed it here).

Just realized I never posted it before..!!

The Daniel Roth Ref. 2157 is a true gem from the original DR era that remains (somewhat) attainable. Although the same dial layout was later replicated during the Hour Glass period—and I’ve been fortunate enough to own both—comparing a genuine guilloché dial to a stamped one makes a world of difference, even with the slightest shift in angle.
