One of the difficult things about making a life in the arts is not always being able to measure your own progress or perceived “success”.

Last September, I got hired to direct an immersive experience/play in Dallas, TX (@thejuryexperience : The Killer AI).
I had done immersive shows before and, of course, I’ve been working at all levels of professional theatre for the past two decades. Dallas also happens to be one of my favorite US cities; big city but still a lot of genuine southern charm, great food, good people, and amazing entertainment.

To say that our show launch was ‘electric’ would be an understatement. Our opening night was sold-out, audiences poured out of the theatre and literally asked when the ‘next case’ would premiere (it’s an AI-centered immersive court case!).

Fast forward to now - nearly a year later - we still have sold-out audiences and audience ratings and engagement remain high.

I’m grateful. Grateful that I get to continue working with these actors, this production company, and on this style of theatre that has captured a loyal audience.

I think that’s a valuable metric for “success”; gratitude and love for the process & the people we get to work with.

🎬And that’s a wrap on an incredible seven-day journey.
To my small but efficient and mighty crew, our amazing cast, and everyone who contributed their time, talent, and support—thank you. This film would not have been possible without you.

Meet Hattye C. Knight (@hattyeknight), who plays Dr. Hogan, Ryan’s longtime OBGYN, in Endless Cycle.

Dr. Hogan is the kind of woman who says a lot with very little. She’s spiritual, thoughtful, and knows that love is both action and presence.

Hattye shared that if Dr. Hogan could give Ryan one more piece of advice, it’d be:
“Keep God first. Make the most of your and Leo’s love and commitment. Live life and love hard.” 🙌🏾

But don’t get it twisted. Hattye can deliver a word AND catch a joke. One of her favorite behind-the-scenes moments? A mystery whisper from Leo to Ryan that had her cracking up:

“I don’t know what Don said, but it cracked Conneka up and made my soul chuckle.”

Dr. Hogan holds the line, but Hattye holds the vibe.
