Plan 9 from Outer Space 3.1 (Twin Turbo)
Kindred Spirit x Haunt–Berlin / Frontviews
Jorge Queiroz

“Plan 9 from Outer Space 3.1 (Twin Turbo) is an exhibition named after a 1957 film by American filmmaker Ed Wood. Marked by an unconventional plot and a distinctly eccentric mash-up of characters, the film offers an experimental perspective built on overlap and falsification – posing, in effect, as a parody of the film industry of its day. Drawing on Wood’s spirit and on the film’s notoriety as one of cinema’s worst records, the exhibition stakes out a singular imaginary grounded in the right to difference and in freedom. With a deliberately provocative sensibility – one that attends to the uncertainties of the human condition – the exhibition celebrates a space for emancipation and disruption. Set in an atmosphere poised between science-fiction references and late-century illusionist spectacle, it cultivates a charged tension between wonder and scepticism.”

〰️🐚 Today, we warmly welcome back Dystopia Biennial on our SAVVYZΛΛR radiowaves:
Organized by Errant Sound since 2018, the 5th edition of the sound art festival – Global Dystopia – is directed & curated by Mario Asef and co-curated by Janine Eisenächer and Laura Mello. It examines the aesthetic, political, and epistemological dimensions of listening in a world shaped by multiple, interconnected crises. The featured works investigate sound as a medium of knowledge, memory, and imagination, asking how attentive ears can render complex realities perceptible.

In this session, Laura Mello presents excerpts of the opening performances on 26.09.2026 at HAUNT/frontviews by Tintin Patrone, Staffan Westerlund, and Lisa W Carlson, as well as a conversation by Txulunh Gakran and João Voia about their installation GÓ TE VẼ KÉKE MŨ (The Earth Speaks) – Memories of Life and Resistance of the People of the Sun. Subsequently, we listen to Jasmina Al-Qaisi’s last work on melisma and how to mourn the future loss of the Dead Sea.
