Thankful to have been selected as 1 of 4 Zimbabwean fashion creatives to develop a range for the @makanakafashion_official Brand, a brand which seeks to celebrate and fuse Zimbabwean & Chinese heritage with a contemporary edge. This ss22 theme is a Summers Daydream. I endeavoured to develop a range that was not only commercial, but a representation of who I am as a fashion creative. A range that was effortless, comfortable, easy to style with subtle hand-made bohemian nuances. The ultimate costal resort getaway wardrobe. I maintained the @Hausofstone signature neutral tones, while introducing a burst of summer zest with the use of a vibrant canary yellow and royal lavender. FYI: Yellow is an imperial color in traditional Chinese color symbolism, representing power, royalty, and prosperity. In traditional Chinese symbolism, purple symbolises divinity and immortality. All the above elements speak towards the energy that I want all my collections to exude. Above and beyond representing Chinese culture through shade & silhouette, the chosen shades are reflective of the aura I want to bring fourth in the wearer. “The Therapy of Fashion: One Garment, Many Hands” This @hausofstone digital workshop in collaboration with Tendai Angela Jambgwa (certified yoga instructor) will guide the audience through meditation and making. The session looks to explore craftsmanship with one’s hands as a form of therapy, creative expression & emotional release. This session will be a fusion of yoga; traditional mbira music and hand sewing. Seeds of Esther SS20 by @hausofstone This Zimbabwean ready-to-wear brand propelled by the philosophy of “surrealism, harmony, and afro-minimalism” was created by Dan Ayi Madondo in 2014. The SS20 collection showcased at the #GTBankFashionWeekend was inspired by mythological Biblical themes. The gates of Seeds of Esther is a gateway to a place where dreams go to flourish, a space of escapism and replenishment. An ode to inter dimensional travels and discovering new worlds where godly angelic beings convene. The shades in the collection are inspired by the rocks found at Christin bank just on the outskirts of Harare in Zimbabwe. The heavily pastel shades are marked into the stones which are a local rock climbing site. #GTBankFashionWeekend #AfricasFinest #PromotingEnterprise
