Etena Fest is proud to have our dear friend Rose Philpott facilitate the 2-day dance intensive: Doing in Rigorous Confusion. Dance knowledge-sharing and exchange is a big part of Etena Fest, and we’re excited to welcome Rose, whose generosity as an artist and educator continues to connect generations of dancers in Aotearoa. Through her years of practice here and abroad, Rose brings a wealth of knowledge and experiences that we’re grateful to have shared with our community. ~ Rosamund Philpott is a dance artist who is currently completing a creative practice PhD investigating Queer philosophies of time, phenomenology and historiography. Her practice is rooted in a deep commitment to dancing as the way forward. She is keen to share some of her thoughts, discoveries and methods with other Tāmaki Makaurau performance makers. Etena Fest Workshop #1 Saturday 7th November LOFTY LABB Facilitated by Aloali'i and Tori Manley-Tapu Register via our linktree in bio 🔗 Lofty Labb is the improv movement workshop developed by Ta'alili directors Aloali'i and Tori. Lofty has been developing since 2015 with friends, heroes, collaborators, and students of Li'i and Tori. It involves image and spacial based tools that are shared with others to inform an individual dance, coupled with the ancient or growing dance that we believe everyone has. These tools are simple ways to create play within particular bio-mechanical and space/time markers that are shared within the group. By the end of this workshop you will have the tools to labb and search for what suits or assist in the evolution of your dance. The workshop will run from 10am - 3pm @ Laingholm Community on 7th November, it is also on the same day as Elections which closes at 7pm so it leaves ample time for ourselves, and you, to vote 🗳️ 🎨 @havealatu

ETENA FEST presents Free Movement Classes with Atamira Dance Conpany Created especially for ETENA FEST, this movement series brings together four Atamira artists and four distinct movement practices, creating space for community to come together, connect and move with curiosity. Atamira has been based in West Auckland for many years, and we’re excited to be part of ETENA FEST - an opportunity to connect with our local community and share some of the rich and varied movement practices held within our Atamira whānau. Across four sessions, Kasina Campbell, Rachel Ruckstuhl-Mann, Louise Pōtiki Bryant and Brydie Colquhoun will each share their unique approaches to movement, offering different ways to engage with the body, build confidence and connect with others. You don’t need to be a dancer or have any previous movement experience to take part. Come as you are, bring a friend or your whānau, and join us at 10am on the rooftop of Lopdell House, where we’ll lay down the dance floor and start the morning moving together. After each workshop, ETRNA FEST will put on a kapu tī, with time to stay, kōrero and connect beyond the movement. Nau mai, haere mai. Workshop line-up: Sunday 8 November Tākaro Taiao Rachel Ruckstuhl-Mann Sunday 14 November Muscle and Bone Kasina Campbell Sunday 22 November Pūheke - Movement of Flow Louise Pōtiki Bryant Saturday 28 November Tuia te Here Tangata | Weaving Connection Brydie Colquhoun 📌 Lopdell House Rooftop Terrace, Titirangi 🎨 @havealatu

"Honestly" Music Video Written by Tyrun Produced, mixed and mastered by Jarna Vagahau Niue translation by Io Aleke Fa'avae Directed, shot and edited by Havea Latu Producer/production assist and subtitling by Tommo Jiang Special thanks to Stevie (and Pule family), and Sherri xx Honestly. I wrote this about fleeting friendships, and I wanted the music video to explore that in a fun way. Everyone is looking for connection, whether we wanna admit it or not. Sometimes those connections, short lived but meaningful, are supposed to be just that. To expect any more than that would be setting yourself up to fail!
