◾️Designing the Smart Home: Making Home Automation Work
With Katharina Colman | Director of Luxe Smart Homes
@luxesmarthomes

Home automation is now essential in high-end homes. From lighting and heating to AV and security, multiple systems need to work as one. This session explores how to plan and integrate these systems early, creating a seamless and intuitive experience for clients.

◾️Designing with Light: Creating Atmosphere and Intent
With Machan Enever | Director of Hawksbee
@hawksbeeltd

Lighting is not just technical, it’s emotional. This session looks at how to use light to shape mood, define spaces, and guide how a home is experienced throughout the day. We’ll explore layering, control systems, and collaboration with specialists to create more intentional, refined interiors.

◾️Window Treatments: The Detail That Completes the Room
With James South | Business Development Manager of Shading Specialists
@shadingspecialists

Often considered at the end of a project, window treatments can define the overall feel of a space. This session explores how to integrate them from the outset, using fabric, proportion, and detailing to bring softness, balance, and cohesion to an interior.

◾️The Modern Kitchen: Designing for Living, Not Just Cooking
With Danielle Kudmany | Creative Director of Liate Design
@liatedesign

Kitchens have evolved far beyond their original function. They are now spaces for hosting, working, and everyday living. This session explores how to design kitchens that respond to modern lifestyles, balancing practicality, flow, and aesthetics while creating spaces clients genuinely want to spend time in.

After working on the ‘big’ house we created a guest lodge that we all rather fancied living in. There were lots of eaves & pitches to contend with making the cabinetry design fun!! We layered textures & natural finishes to create an environment that feels relaxed, bright & airy but also like a warm hug.

Sunday inspo…

Not just any boathouse. Maximising the available site we excavated the garden to create a boat garage, gym, and changing rooms.

Built to withstand the harshest conditions with a new seawall, flood defences, slipway and jetty.

Topped off with a garden and pool!

When the lights come on at dusk and the fire pit is glowing, everything just feels right.

There’s no better spot to spend a Friday evening watching the kids sail and the sun slip away.

Struggling to get lighting right in your projects or unsure how to use it more intentionally?

Join us for our next in-person workshop, The Art and Impact of Lighting Design, a focused session exploring how light shapes the way we feel, behave and connect with space.

📆 Tuesday 3rd March
🕚 11:00 – 13:00 GMT
📍 J Adams & Co Showroom (Members only)

Led by Machan Enever from @hawksbeeltd, this workshop will unpack the human-centred principles behind effective interior lighting. We’ll explore how light influences perception wellbeing and mood, and how this translates into practical decisions around layering, zoning and atmosphere.

You’ll leave with a clearer understanding of how to design with light strategically and avoid common pitfalls that weaken both the experience and the final aesthetic.

A practical and inspiring session for designers who want to elevate their work through intelligent lighting.
