This weekend we had some friends over for a craft night and created a quick zine from collage materials. We couldn’t decide if we wanted to make the zine about “autumn” or “dogs” so we just ran with both. Here are some crops of what we put together! We really love how some of the materials and texture came through with Risograph.

“i’m so happy you put your phones away.”

phoebe bridgers said that from the stage at barclays and i haven’t stopped thinking about it.

i was there. not one phone light in the entire arena. twenty thousand people and nothing glowing anywhere, everyone just watching the thing that was actually happening in front of them. i’ve never experienced anything like it at a show and i wish more artists did it.

it was freeing. genuinely. you stop reaching for your phone and after a while you forget you ever had it.

some people were drawing. actually drawing the stage and the set so they’d remember what it looked like.

was it annoying? sometimes. i had no idea what time it was all night. i got separated from my friend and had no way to find them, which was its own adventure. but worth it.

and then lucy dacus and julien baker of @xboygeniusx walked out to sing “not strong enough” with her, and then three of them shared a friendly kiss.

every date on this tour is phone-free. she did it at madison square garden in june, and in august over 40 planetariums in 34 cities went phone-free for one night so people could hear “lost weekend” together under a dome. she’s never explained why she’s doing it. she just does it and it was great.

more people should try it. would you?

One of my (Evan’s) favorite pieces of art that Hayden has made, now recreated with Risograph! We love how Risograph printing this illustration has maintained the texture and bright colors of the original. I’m delighted to share the proof of concept for my feature screenplay Razzle Dazzle. At the heart of this story is the fact that even on the worst day you’ve ever had, there’s still the potential that something could make you laugh.

We scanned a few of the spreads from our latest risographed zine (the scanner can’t pick up the fluorescent pink so you’re just going to have to use your imagination and know it’s much brighter and more saturated). The writing is both hilarious & sweet (thanks to the talented @abschristensen). This wasn’t an easy project but it was a fun one and we’re so happy so many of you ordered one! 💗🐦 Now it’s time to work on our next zine! 🌀
