I love camp. Day camp, SeaWorld camp, Mo-Ranch, Rocky River Ranch, Girl Scout camp, Space Camp. I did them all. And then I found Mystic.

For over a decade, I spent a month in the Hill Country on the Guad. A few days before opening, we’d meet up at the River Inn - grill out, play in the river, counting down the minutes to the bEsT suMmEr EvEr. I always tried to be first in line at those green Mystic gates - a mission of the utmost (personal) importance. My mom would pack the rental SUV, decked in car paint, decorations and treats for the whole cabin. Some of my best memories live right there. (Who remembers the life size austin powers? Groovy, baby)

Friendships at Mystic turned into sisterhood. And sisterhood into family. The fear of the unknown turned into faith. And faith into trust. That foundation shaped so much of our lives. It’s where I found big ideas, new paths, and the people who made me braver.

Our roots here run deep. Tens of thousands of us, for almost a century. The Waterfront, Tribe Hill, Harrison Hall, Sky High, Rec Hall, Chapel Hill, the Flats to Senior Hill - these places hold our stories.

There’s so much more I could say, but mostly - to my CM sisters: I love you, I’m holding you close. To our friends with beautiful angels: their light will always be part of us. I promise to honor them everyday. To the Eastlands: you’ve given so much love and care - it can’t be put into words. Thank you💚 To CH: I’m here for you, always.

Kerr County: you’re magic and you’re tough. I’ll see you soon to help however I can. To everyone hurting right now: we’ve got each other. And to Heart O’ The Hills, La Junta and Hill Country community: your pain is ours, too. We’ll keep carrying each other through.

Thank you, Mystic, for being my family when I needed one most. You are, in fact, the camp of my dreams. ❤️💚💙

I FINALLY DID IT!!! 100 RIDES AT SOUL!!!! Starting back in 2017, I was introduced by my bff @_c.h.a.s.e.r_ to what started off as another form of working out, but what I quickly learned was there was something special in this room, something magical!

I always tell myself before I walk in, “BK get something out of this class that will get you through the day.” It has done that every time! From times where I felt like I was going through the motions of life, this room snapped me out of whatever funk I was in and got me right!

In this room, I have been celebrated! In this room I have met so many awesome people. In this room I’ve been challenged mentally & physically! But in this room what stands out the most…I’ve been able to grow & be MYSELF UNAPOLOGETICALLY…A Queer Black Man full of joy and energy, that I unselfishly share with the souls around me (if you’ve been beside me you know what I mean ☺️!

Always remember this: No matter how steep the challenge may be or how daunting the task may seem…YOU GOT THIS!!! 🫶🏾
