🇳🇴Subaru & HC (BYGDETRAPEN)

They are two young Norwegian artists from Talemark.

Their sound is bygdetrap (rural trap), hard trap, really hard. Hard-hitting 808s, synths that sometimes sound like slot machines glitching out, twisted production details everywhere. Subaru produces most of the beats, and he got his own sound.

HC has a heavy, staccato flow, almost brutal. His Telemark dialect is so thick it sounds like he’s talking with a brick in his mouth... and yet it works. It’s hypnotic and raw.

Subaru, on the other hand, is clearer, more precise, with an almost aggressive delivery. The two cross paths, answer each other, push each other. It creates a constant tension. A perpetual back-and-forth between raw and clean, between heavy and sharp.

What makes them so special is that they’re not trying to look cool. They’re not even trying to make « urban » rap. They take the hottest sound out there (Opium / Drain Gang trap) and slap it onto a culture that has nothing to do with it. And instead of sounding forced or like a « concept, » it just sounds... real. And new. Truly new.

The mixtape BYGDETRAPEN (May 2026) is short (around 21 minutes), straight to the point, no useless intros. Every track hits. « Arctic Cat, » « Carglass, » « Vreimsida, » « KTM, » « Ettan Laus, » « Caddy »... it all holds together. It’s cohesive, intense, and weirdly melodic at times.

They have an ultra-modern sound, an ultra-local identity, top-tier production, two complementary flows, and such a strong personality that you don’t need to understand every word to feel it. That kind of thing is rare. Bygdetrapen is proof that the most interesting rap can still come from places no one is looking at.
