When Derek moved to Portland, Oscar, Matt, and I kept jamming for a while. We played with a few different people, but nothing really clicked. Eventually Matt decided to step back and focus on work, leaving Oscar and me wondering what to do next.
Our neighbors at the jam space, Seth and Sasha, seemed like the perfect people to ask. We floated the idea of getting together and playing some music, and they were immediately into it. Oscar and I brought in some songs we’d been working on, Seth had a few riffs, and before long we were writing music together. It was a blast from the start.
We went into the studio with Armand in November of 21 & recorded 9 songs that would end up being our Debut LP. We played our first show March 4th 2022 at The Smell in Los Angeles with our friends DFMK. Since then, we’ve gone on to play a ton of great shows with bands like Subhumans, X, TSOL, Sweeping Promises, La Luz, Laura Jane Grace & even played the festival at Punk Rock Bowling in Vegas. Our style seemingly fits fine with a wide array of bands. We went back into the studio with Armand again the end of 2023 & recorded 9 more songs that became our second full length “Corazon Negro” which came out on in May 2024.
It’s been so much fun making music with Seth, Sasha & Oscar. We’ve been friends for years, and now we’re finally in a band together that feels more like a family to me. I love the music we are making & I love the time we get to hang with each other. I’m very excited to close out JC50 night one with the Head Cut fam & burn the house down! Hope you got tix, see you tonight!
