Los Angeles you are cordially invited to invade @lastbookstorela on Saturday for the Spring Arts Tower Takeover!!!! find me on the 5th floor 🏢 i'm A.C. Esguerra, a comics artist and illustrator and this is what i do: write and draw dark, theatrical, intricate and sometimes award-winning stories and illustrations about queer love and resistance, mostly using traditional ink and watercolor. this is a bunch of newer and older work i plan to bring this weekend (and also to 🌈QCON in West Hollywood on June 20th, NEXT saturday).
.
so i've been at this since 2015. comic cons and zinefests literally started my career (long story). i took a break from 'em when i was working on my first book and throughout the first years of pandemic. but lately i've been trying to seek out indie and/or local cons and zinefests again because i've realized that being around Chaotic Good artists and folks who actually give a damn about each other is what's keeping me above water spiritually and financially. it's very fun and rewarding. but it's definitely also Work. we hustle because we must...le.
.
naturally, i'm excited for this crazy bookstore takeover/vertical community market/potentially radical use of unoccupied historic downtown buildings. so excited, in fact, that i put together this reel which i NEVER do oh my god. video editing is so exhausting. i don't know how you all keep this up.
.
all this is to say. let's keep human-made art, independent bookstores and the fire in our hearts aliiiiive 🛹

💥BOOM💥
…kicked off April with a 💥BANG💥adding @aqua.talent to my bangin’ team for theatrical representation.

Shout out to my girl @elyssamp for the support, belief, and connection. So happy to be part of the same family with you 💫.

I am grateful for all the referrals who also put their name out there for me, but I knew in my meeting with Courtney, who really saw me and had all the support + belief + work ethic + industry establishment I’ve been wanting in an agency to get me to the next level, that Aqua Talent was the place for me. So grateful to be signed during a time where the industry is STILL in the process of picking up; and being represented by such a premiere agency that is highly regarded in the industry.

Here’s to being booked and busy 💫 cuz this girl is ready to get it…and with new headshots - sneak peek here - from @dylanjlocke x @headshotsbydylan , the possibilities are endless!
