The Friends of the AACR Foundation is extremely proud to have The Headstrong Foundation as this year's recipient of our Community Impact Award. Hofstra lacrosse player Nicholas “HEAD” Colleluori founded the organization in 2006 shortly before he passed away from large B-cell non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma with the intention of helping families affected by cancer. His own family continues to fulfill Nick's original mission to this day and provides services such cost-free living to families traveling for treatment at "Nick's House" locations in Philadelphia and Boston. To date the organization has raised $38 million and helped 39,000 families.

Please see the attached link to learn more about Nick and the amazing organization he and his family built, and we also hope you will join us in congratulating them at this year's gala!

We were honored to welcome Pat from the HEADstrong Foundation to campus and spend time learning about the mission behind an organization that has become such an important part of the lacrosse community.

We also had the opportunity to recognize the William “Willy” Donaldson Service Award, an award presented to a member of our program who demonstrates an exceptional commitment to serving his teammates, his community, and the values of a Captain. This year’s recipient, Colin DeGrassi, chose to donate his award to the HEADstrong Foundation.

In honor of Colin’s commitment to service and the spirit of the award, $1,000 will be donated to HEADstrong to support their continued work in the lacrosse community.

Thank you to Pat and HEADstrong for spending time with our team and reminding us that what we do off the field matters just as much as what we do between the lines. #CNU #CNULACROSSE #GoCaptains #HEADstrong
